Guest guest
pranams to everybody. I am Radha Varadarajan,20 yers of age. and I am deeply moved by M.S. subbalakshmi's bhaja govindam. but, im not very sure of its inner meaning. although, i can guess that it has a lot of depth and philosophy attched to it, i couldnt quite make out its actual word to word meaning. i did search for some books, but then i thought this egroup should be able to help me out in appreciating this great piece of work. i would be very grateful if any of you could write to me about bhaja govindam's meaning in detail to me. thank you all, seeking your blessings, radha. __________________ Get free email and a permanent address at http://www.netaddress.com/?N=
Guest guest
Dear Srimathi Radha: Bhaja Govindham is a deeply stirring work of Adhi Sankara . It has basic questions about life and its purpose and provides Upadesam to seek shelter at the scared feet of the Lord to get release from the misery of SamsAram . There are a lot of translations available. You may wish to look up the following thre URLs as a starter to get at the profound questions that Adhi Shankara asks in a rhetorical sense: (1) http://www.geocities.com/rodeoDrive/1415/bhaja1.html (2) http://www.hindubooks.org/books_by_rajaji/bhaja_govindam This one is by the First Governor General of India , Sri Chakravarhty RajagopAlAchaari and is brilliant for its insights. Dear Ms Varadarajan, Please see, http://sanskrit.gde.to/doc_vishhnu/doc_vishhnu.html There is a link in it for Bhaja Govindam (just below purushhasuukta and above madhuraashhTakaM). There are many formats given there, so you can choose the most convenient. It has all the verses sung by Sri Sankara and his disciples (I believe the cassette has a few cut out for adjusting the time). It has the phrases, the translation and a glossary at the end. I am sure you would also find the same in the archives of the bhakti list, but I thought a glossary would be helpful. I hope this helps. dAsOham
