Srimath Azhagiya Singar of Ahobila Mutt in his extensive travels thru North Indian towns/Cities/villages has performed the purificatory rites of SamAshrayaNam and blesses those , who have had SamAshrayaNam , with prapatthi. SamAshrayaNam is a prerequisite for joining the VaishNava Kulam/Paramparai with Sriman NaarAyanan as the PrathamAchAryan . SamAshrayaNam means to approach an AchAryan with all ardor and sincerity to prepare one to lead the celebrated way of Sri VaishNavAs irrespective of their caste, creed or Sex. A person , who receives the five Purifications thru SamAshrayaNam gets the link to the parampari of Sri VaishNavAs ; it provides an important turning point in his or her life, which sets the stage to perform Prapathti or Bhara NyAsam at the feet of a SadaachAryan to escape from the terrors of the cycles of repeated births and deaths and to serve Sriman NaarAyaNan in Sri Vaikuntam. Thus, SamAshrayaNam is the important first step in the journey of a Mumukshu ( one who desires Moksham). An excellent and detailed write up by Sri KaralapAkkam Anand will be very helpful to understand the significance and principles of SamAshrayaNam. The URL for that posting is: http://www.cdc.net/~dileepan/samas.html I recommend it to you very highly. V.Sadagopan
