Guest guest
- Sri Vaishnava Sri ,A.Krishnamachari cmcell ; atrmadhavan Cc: Sujatha Rangarajan Monday, March 06, 2000 11:20 AM Lord Ranganatha Samprokshanam Sri: Sri Vaishnava Sri (Registered under the Societies Registration Act Registration No. 513 / 1992)214, East Uthara Street, Srirangam - 620 006,Phone:(0431)434398. To The Chief Minister, Tamilnadu. Respected Chief Minister, The Idol of Lord Ranganatha in Srirangam, glorified by Alwars ,Acharyas and Ilangovadigal is also known as Sri Vatsan only because the image of Lakshmi is engraved on His chest.Consecrating the idol of Lord Ranganatha without the image of Lakshmi is a sacrilege and will bring calamity to the state leadership. The restoration of the image of Mahalakshmi on the Lord's chest is also confirmed by Tiruvengadam, assistant to the Sthapathi who restored the idol of Lord Ranganatha which was renovated after the 1959 fire accident. The presence of Mahalakshmi's image was supported by a photographic evidence taken before 1959 .Hence we request your goodself to stop the application of Thailam to the idol and reexamine the whole issue in light of this new evidence and take necessary action in restoring the idol of Lord Ranganatha to its past glory.Performance of Samprokshanam to the Lord without the presence of Mahalakshmi will be a fatal error. Yours Truly Sri Vaishnava Sri, A.Krishnamachari, Secretary, Srirangam Temple Heritage Protection Committee, Srirangam.
