Guest guest Posted March 7, 2001 Report Share Posted March 7, 2001 Maasi Masa Celebrations of the 81st Thirunakshatram of Srimadh Poundareekapuram Andavan at Boston Srimathe Rangaramanuja Mahadesikaya Namaha, Srimathe Gopaladesika Mahadesikaya Namaha, The Maasi Maasa 81st Thirunakshatram celebrations of Poundareekapuram Acharyan HH Sri Gopala Desika Maha Desikan was celebrated on 3rd March 2001 at Boston, USA. Sri Ramanuja Mission of Srirangam Srimadh Andavan Ashramam and Sri Vedanta Desika Sabha of Srimadh Poundareekapuram Andavan Ashramam organized the celebration at Sri Muralidhar Rangaswamy's residence. Ghosti from outside Boston had traveled from New Jersey and Washington DC. The celebration started at 10:30 aM with a vibrant Desika Sthothra recitation comprising of Mahaveera Vaibhavam, Sudharshanaashtakam, Shodashayuda sthothram, Garunda Dhandakam, Chathusloki and Sri Sthuthi by the ghoshti. Padhuka and Perumal Thiruvaaradhanam were the highlights of the Thirunakshatram celebration. Sri Venkatanathan Sreenivasan performed Perumal and Padhuka Araadhanam and Sri Narayanan Veeraraghavan performed Udayavar Thirumanjanam. The atmosphere was charged with reverence and emotion when Sri Muralidhar Rangaswamy and Vennaarrangarai Andavan's grandson Sri. Anand Seshadri performed the Padhuka Araadhanam for Srimadh Poundareekapuram Andavan's padhuka. Padhuka Araadhanam was performed to the Padhukas of Sri Rangam Periashramam Poorvaacharyas, Srirangam Srimadh Periashramam Prakritham Andavan, Srimadh Poundareekapuram Prakritham Andavan, Sri Ahobila Muth Prakritham Jeeyar and Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Jeeyar. About 60 bhagavathaas attended the function and received the blessings of all the poorvaacharyas. Ubhaya Veda Paaraayanam during the celebrations included Thiruppallaandu, Thiruppalliyezhichi, Thiruppavai, Neeraattam, Amalanaadhipiran, Kannuninsiruthaambu and Iramaanusa Nootrandhadhi. This was followed by Satrumarai, Acharya Sambavanai as per Srimath Poundareekapuram Andavan Ashramam traditions, Srirangam Srimadh Andavan Ashramam traditions and various other srivaishnava Ashramam traditions. Next, Desikan vazhi Thirunamam and recitation of all Acharya thanians of all our Srivaishnava Ashramams followed. The entire proceeds collected during the celebration were given as Acharyan Sambavanai to Sri Poundareekapuram Ashramam by Sri Ramanuja Mission. The celebrations concluded at 2:30 PM. After the Araadhanam and Satrumarai, Sri Muralidhar Rangaswamy had organized a wonderful thadheeyaaradhanai for all the bhaagavathaas who had attended the celebrations. Sri Ramanuja Mission thanks Sri Muralidhar Rangaswamy and his bharya Smt. Shalini Murali for their hospitality in hosting the glorious event at their residence.
