Guest guest
Dear Sri Vaishnava perunthagaiyeer Mrs. Kalyani krishnamachari has given a good account of the naachchiyaar thirumozhi paasuram 12.4 "angaith thalaththidai" as usual. Here is some add on points from this side. The paasuram reads- Angaiththalaththidai aazhi koNdaan avan mugaththanRi vizhiyEn enRu Senkachchuk koNdu kaN aadai aarththuch chiRu maanidavaraik kaaNil naaNum Kongaith thalam ivai nOkkik kaaNeer gOvindhanukkallaal vaayil pOgaa Inguththai vaazhvai ozhiyavE pOi yamunaik karaikku ennai uiththidumin Please permit me to rearrange these to form the following lines Angaith thalaththidai aazhi koNdaan [- antha] gOvindhanukkallaal vaayil pOgaa avan mugaththanRi vizhiyEn enRu [uLLa intha] Kongaith thalam ivai nOkkik kaaNeer Senkachchuk koNdu kaN aadai aarththuch chiRu maanidavaraik kaaNil naaNum Inguththai vaazhvai ozhiyavE pOi yamunaik karaikku ennai uiththidumin To place the word by word meaning Angaith thalaththidai - azhagiya kaigaL agiya idaththil - in that beautiful hands aazhi koNdaan avan - chakkaram enthiya avan- he who has the sudharsana chakram in his hands mugaththanRi vizhiyEn enRu- mugaththai thavira vEru ethaiyum paarkka maattEn enRu - will not see the face GOvindhanukku- govindhan ennum peyar koNdavarkku Allaal- adhu thavira - without Vaayil - mugaththil uLLa vaai ennum uruppil - in the mouth Vaayil - Vazhiyil- in the route Vaayil - Kadhavu- door Kongai Thalam- the holder of breasts or this body Ivai- ingE iruppavai- these- this body and its condition NOkki - kuriththu - towards KaaNeer- kaNNaal paarungaL - please see or please look POga- sellaadhu - will not go Senkachchuk koNdu- wearing an attractive cloth kaN aadai aarththuch - when the eyes itself becomes the covering cloth chiRu maanidavaraik - these lowly human beings kaaNil naaNum- shying when they look at Inguththai vaazhvai ozhiyavE pOi - to loose this lowly life yamunaik karaikku - on the banks of yamuna ennai uiththidumin - let me be placed. Combining the meaning - Oh folks- Please look at this body and its condition (ivai nOkkik kaaNeer- here ivai means the body and its condition). [The thought I mine and me have gone]. This is in a state that it will not go in any other route other than that of gOvindhan [gOvindhanukku allaal vaayil] who holds the sudharsanam in his beautiful hand. When other lowly human beings look at the breasts of me as the attraction of this body, as though they are covering me with their eyes themselves as the cloth, it becomes necessary for me to cover this body with clothes, and I am forced to exhibit as though I feel shy in front of these lowly born. I do not want this kind of life of this exhibitionism [of showing shyness and covering when these people see me etc]. Please put me in the banks of yamuna wherein except the thoughts of gOvindhan, nothing else is there [all other thoughts about this body and its attraction etc fly away in that route of gOvindhan].
