Guest guest
Hi everyone, I am really curious about the mangalagiri temple. From reading the articles on the web i found that the offering of Panaka is made by pouring the offering into the mouth of the Lord with a Sankha or a conch and only half of the quantity is accepted by the Lord while the rest is left to the devotee as prasada I would like to know which of thes statements is right 1) only half of every conch full of panaka is accepted .. 2) the panaka offering starts to overflow only when the total quantity of panaka is halved. Thank you in advance for answering my question Prasanna Auctions - Buy the things you want at great prices. http://auctions./
Guest guest
SrI: SrimathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah: Dear Sri Prasannakannan, I was blessed to visit this kshEthram called ma~ngaLagiri" (near GuntUr- in Andhra), at the age of 14. What I still can recollect and remember (at 40) is: The Divya mangaL vigraham of Sri PAnaka Nrusimhan accepts pAnakam offered in any container of any size, and he consumes half of the quantity offered by devotees. Then it overflows from His "large" mouth.. Since it spills on the ground, the floor was sticky (due to sweet pAnakam); but there was not a single fly or an ant in the hill. ANother divine marvel.. Guest guest
Dear Sri Prasanna, The wondrous temple of Mangalagiri is within driving distance of the city of Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh. The area of this state has been home to SriVaishnavas of Tamizh origin for many generations, many of whom are still practicing the nuances of our satsampradAyam. As a result, temples like Mangalagiri are maintained with similar standards as abhimAna sthalams in Tamizh Nadu. While I have not visited the temple personally, what I have learned from my parents and from books is that the second statement is the correct one. The Lord stops partaking the pAnakam when exactly half of it is offered, irrespective of whether a cup or a 108 kalasams are presented before Him. Indeed, devotees say that they are able to hear the Lord expressing His Pleasure with a loud roar when this halfway point is reached. Others may be able to offer more. Guest guest
Mangalagiri can be reached easily from Vijayawada and is on the way to Guntur. This punniya kshestram is one of the five Nrusimha kshetrams that lie alongside the Krishanveni river. The other four are VedAdri, Mattapally, Vadapally and Kethavaram. Mangalagiri is also referred to as Bhatragiri and Bheemathri. EmperumAn Sri Lakshmi Nrusimhan has abodes both on top and bottom of the mountain. It is believed that Bheema worshipped here. Also believed that the Lord was given milk in kruthayugam, honey in threthAyugam, ikshusAram (sugarcane juice) in dhvAparayugam and kudOthagam (pAnagam) in kaliyugam. Its true that even the ants and flies are wellbehaved in not swarming the pAnagam before nivEdhanam. But they start gathering around as one descends the holy abode. 44th Jeer of Sri Ahobila mutt in his SripanjAmrutha stOtram writes MalOlam praNi pathyAham svarna SriNruharimthadhA *mangalAthri ramAsimham* krushNam narthanagOvitham Nrusimha bhaktAs visiting Mangalagiri may also want to visit Aahiripalli (32 Kms from Vijayawada) aka ShobanAdri to have dharshan of RajyaLakshmi Samedha Sri VyAgra Nrusimhan (puli mukam). adiyEn Rajagopalan Srinivasan
