Two rivers - Krishnaveni and Musi garland the temple which follows the pAncharAthra Agamam. Lord was pratyaksham to sage Agasthyar. The temple is also known as DeepAlayam. In the sanctum sanctorum there are two deepams one in front of HIS thirumuga mandalam and one at HIS thiruvadi. The deepam at HIS thiruvadi glows steadily while the one near HIS nAsi flickers. The breathing of our Ubiquitous Father is what makes this deepam flicker inside the garbagruha. This kshetram has had the mangalAsAsanam of Sri ParAsara Bhattar. deepalayae jagathdeepam jagath kArana mavyayam | vathAnyam vasumatheesam vAdapalyA mupAsmahae || BTW there are also these other visEsha Nrusimha kshetrams in AP - Sri Ahobilam KAsyAm yuga sahasrAnI PrayAgae yuga vimsathihi | GayAyAm yuga sathanchaiva vasaethinam Ahobilae || { The palan one gets by staying a single day in Sri Ahobilam equals a stay of 1000 yugam in KAsi, 100 yugams in GayA and 20 yugams in PrayAg) - Sri Mangala Giri - Sri VedAdri - Sri Kethavaram - Sri Mattapally - Sri Vadapally - Sri YAdhagirigutta - Sri ShobanAdhri - Sri SimhAchalam - Sri GOru konta - Sri putta konta - Sri SthambAthripuram - Sri RaepAla - Sri Pushpagiri - Sri singarAya konta - Sri Maala konta adiyEn Rajagopalan Srinivasan

If I recall correctly, this was mentioned in a posting in Bhakti list, where it was mentioned that this temple was one among several temples in Andhra where HH Sri Mukkur LakshmiNarasimha Tatacharya Swamy officiated over Sri LakshmiNarasimha Yagnam. Perhaps others can shed more light on this.... Ramanuja Dasan Mohan

More details on this and other temples can be read from Sri Mukoor LakshmiNarasimhacharyar's 'Mattapalliyil malarndha marai porul'. This book talks about the greatness of Mattapally uses the same style HH 42nd Jeer used to write about Sri Ahobilam. Might be the name is Vadepalli instead of VAdapalli. adiyEn Rajagopalan Srinivasan
