Guest guest
Sri Mattapalli Naatham Pranathosmi Nithyam Namaha Namaskaarams to all Bhakthi group members. Adiyen has recently joined the bhakthi group and am "enjoying" the exchange of various info. This is adiyens first post in reply to Sri Naresh Ramanujan's post dated 15/5/2001 tad viShNoH paramam padagm sadaa pashyanti sUrayaH | divI vachakShuraatatam || First of all adiyen begs to correct, the above sentence is not a slokam, it is a mantram. The above mantra appears in the "agniShToma pashuH" description in Kanda 1, Prashna 3 , Anuvaaka 6, Mantra 13 and also in the "devayajanagrahaamidhaanam" description in the Kanda 4 , Prashna 2, Anuvaaka 9, Mantra 11 of the Taittiriya Samhita of the kR^iShNa yajur veda. Apart from the above, the mantra also appears in several other places like various Upanisads etc.,The importance of a mantra is known in the number of times it is repeated in the Veda. Hence one may conclude that this mantra is a very important one. This may be one of the reasons why it is included in the saatrumarai and also in the viShNu sUktam. The literal meaning of the sentence according to A.B.Keith who has translated the Taittiriya Samhita is as follows "That highest step of Visnu The singers ever gaze upon Like an eye stretched in the sky" Adiyen feels it is actually a description of the netraanandam of the vaikuNTa vaasIs of the nitya sUri goshTi Daasan, Vijayaraghavan Bashyam ___ Chat with your friends as soon as they come online.
