Guest guest
HelpSeveral generations after Puru, in the chandravamshi lineage of Kshatriyas (who originate from Atri) we arrive at Dusyanta, he married Shakuntala, the daughter of Vishwamitra and the apsara Manecka. Their son was the famous Bharata, for which our land is named after. He was an excellent ruler to the point where he didn't find his sons to be morally fit to rule. He in turn adopted Vidhatin-Bharadvaja, a descendent of the brahmin sage Angirasa. Vidhatin-Bharadvaja's descendent Bhuvamanyu had 4 sons. His son (eldest ?) Brhatksatra continued as a kshtriya and his descendent was Hastin. Other sons lead to descendents and the founding of of sub-gotras among the Angirasa gotras of brahmins: Sainya, Garg, Sankriti, Uruksya I dont know if there is a bar with regards to intermarriage among the sub gotras.
