On this most holy day of thiruvAdipooram, with the recitation of Sri

Andal AshtOtharam by His Holiness Sri Tridandi Chinna Sriman Narayana

Ramanuja Jeeyar being broadcast to our speaker phone from Chicago, I am

blessed to announce that the release of the first phase of the second

educational project of the Samskriti Institute and the International

Ramanuja Society, a two-tape set on the Divine Stories of the AzhwArs.

 

The tapes are the result of the tireless efforts of Sri V. Sadagopan,

Sri M. A. Alwar and Sri T. S. Sundara Rajan, and serve as a prelude to

the multimedia CD ROM on the lives of our Tamil Saints that is currently

in production. The stories of the AzhwArs are rendered in a clear and

lucid English such that newcomers and Western educated youth can

benefit. Those of us already familiar with the AzhwArs

will find some insightful new information on the remarkable lives

of our Saints.

 

The life of each AzhwAr is set to beautiful instrumental Carnatic

pieces, and is preceded and concluded by appropriate Sanskrit

thaniyans. The music and Sanskrit hymns are such that the tapes can

also serve as a source for

meditation and reflection, or as a relaxing and spiritually uplifting

way to spend the long commute to and from the office.

 

Each tape set is $11, proceeds going towards the production and shipping
