Human Cloning and Vedas

Dear Friends,

As you might have seen on the news about Human Cloning. Personally I

do not support such un-ethical act. Even though this is a new

scientific adventure, does it have any reference in Hindu vedas and

puranas?

Dear Bhagavathas -

 

I have been wondering if there is anything wrong with

human cloning per se. Like any scientific adventure,

there are potential dangers and himsa. In that sense,

it may be opposed. But dont we have cases of cloning

in the Vedas ?

But befor proceeding, please note that the number of souls (jiivas)

in the jagat (universe) is infinite (Refer A Dialogue on Hinduism by

Dr.V.N.Vedanta Desikan).

 

This helps in understanding that even if an organism is cloned, the

soul is not "cloned" only the prakriti (achit) or the body is cloned

per se.

 

Infinity+any number = Infinity
