Guest guest
Dear Rajeev: Short of undoing the Brahma mudicchu (knot ) and reknotting it at a convenient length after cutting off the excess thread and reconsecrecating it , there are no short cuts like making another knot for convenience .This is not recommended . The easier thing is to acquire another YajnOpaveedham from the Pomona Temple priests (by mail) or from local temple priests and replacing the current long one with the proper sankalpam . Guest guest
Dear Rajeev, it is possible to shorten it. I have know of my grandfather who used to take the lower portion of the strands, twist them like a twisted pair of copper, double it up and make a knot with the rest of the strands. I know I am not able to convey. the only other way is to write a diagram and post it. Krishna
Guest guest
Dear Bhagavatas: The one mentioned by Sri Kalale is known as "Payatham mudichu" in Tamilnadu (or something like that elsewhere) and used to be employed by Sishtas in the past, so far as my knowledge goes. If "Brahma mudichu" is on one side the "Payatham mudichu" would be on the opposite end and this would efectively reduce the length of the yagnopaveetham to the desired length. The best bet would, however, be the one recommended by Sri Sdagopan. Dasoham Anbil Ramaswamy
