Guest guest
Dear Bhagavatas: I cannot do better than echoing the sentiments of Sri Dileepan Swami. I have had the Bhaghyam of listening to Srivatsankachar Swami's Kalakshepams on Anushtanam in general, Sandhyavandanam and Tiruvaradanam in particular,Tiruppavai, Athimanusha Sthavam, and many more spanning over a period of 15 years, Bhagavata Saptaham (during my recent visit to India). His style is inimitable; the flow torrential; the delivery superb; the quotaions copious and relevant. We have not seen Swami Desika in person. Here is one who reminds us of how Swami Desika would have been - a living example - in every aspect, be it Jnaanam, Anushtanam or Vairghyam or tenedering sage advice to seekrs at any time and any place whatsoever! In short, He is an epitome of what an Acharya should be. His Pension benefits had not been fixed still for his service on his retirement as Principal of Madras Sanskrit College long time ago; Yet, he was never worried about it because he believes that Lord is there to look after his needs - trait of a true Prapanna!. When he was staying at Venkatesa Agraharam, (the place where Nrisimhapriya office is now located), one night, some thieves broke open his home and took away all his valuabls. Yet, he was unmoved except for lodging a complaint as an elementary duty of a citizen in such a situation. You know the fate of complaints to Police on lost properties in India! After quite sometime, miraculously, he got back the valuables without his "moving a muscle"! At the time of his posting to French Institute, a farewell meeting was got up for him. Someone remarked that his moving to Pondichrry was a loss to Mylapore. I was asked to speak on the occasion. I told the audience comprising of Sri R.K.Swami, SRS Raghavan and other personages that Sri Swami was a world citizen, that wherever he happened to be - he was an asset to the Community throughout the world and that he cannot be deemed as belonging exclusively to Mylapore or Pondicherry. I even invited him to visit USA saying that the old world objections to crossing the Ocean were no more valid because the Lord when He measured the three worlds did not exclude USA and if the word "Vishnu" meant one who envelops, surrounds, supports, directs every thing and everyone, He does not preclude USA from His ambit. AS rightly pointed out, conferring any recognition is not an honor to him but it is he who honors the honor by accepting it. We should all earnestly pray to the Divyadhampathis and all our Yathivaras to bestow upon him Vedokta Dheerghaayus to guide us on the right path.
