My intent is to better understand and appreciate the subject & logic. This is a lengthy post that may not interest everybody. I apologize. In the post: 1. Initially it is shown 1 Mahayuga = 4,320,000 2. Then, two thousand Mahayugas is shown to equal a Kalpa = 8,640,000,000. 3. Then it was pointed out a Manvantara is also known as MahaYuga, and we are in the Seventh (Vaivasvata) Manvantara. 4. And then, 1 Kalpa is shown equal to 1000 MahaYugas? -Contradiction with # 2 above. It should be 1/2 Kalpa, if #2 is taken to be correct. 5. Finally, it is shown in the present Kalpa we are past 6 Manus, 27 MahaYugas?, 3 Yugas and 5102 Years into Kali Yuga. This contradicts with #3 that mentions we are in the Seventh Manvantara or MahaYuga!! My argument is, either: a) We are past 6 Manus and 27 Manvantaras OR b) We are past 6 Manvantaras, 3 Yugas and 5102 Years into Kalki. Not both - fully or partially. Since we are said to be in the Seventh Manvantara [Vaivasvata] of this Kalpa, I assume the latter (b) is correct. Now with this information, if we rework the numbers: If 2000 MahaYugas make-up a Kalpa, 1 Kalpa = 8,640,000,000 Years. [A] (Assuming everything else like 1 Manu = 71 MahaYugas and 1 MahaYuga = 4,320,000 and 1 Sandhya = 2/5th of a MahaYuga is correct). 1 Kalpa = X Manus + Y Sandhyas (ignoring Y to compute approx. X) 8,640,000,000 = [X * 71 * 4,320,000] => X = 28 Manus. 1 Kalpa = 28 Manus + 30 Sandhyas. Earlier it was mentioned that: 1 Mahayuga = 1 Manvantara = 4,320,000 years. [satya +Treta+ Dwapara+ Kalki] If we accept 1 Kalpa = 2000 Mahayugas or Manvantaras, and we are in the Seventh Manvantara, it means in this Kalpa, 6 Manvantaras are completed fully, and 1993 full Manvantaras remain + some portion of this 7th Manvantara. 6 Manvantaras or MahaYugas Time = 6 * 4,320,000 = 25,920,000 years completed. Elapsed Time in 7th Manvantara = 3 Yugas[s+T+D]+ 5102 Kalki Years=[1,728,000 + 1,296,000 + 864,000] + 5,102 = 3,893,102 [C] Total time elapsed in this (SvetavarAha) Kalpa = 6 Manvantaras + Elapsed Time in 7th Manvantara = + [C] = 25,920,000 + 3,893,102 = 29,813,102 Years [D] Thus, years remaining in this Kalpa = Total Kalpa Years - Elapsed Kalpa Years = [A] - [D] = 8,640,000,000 - 29,813,102 = 8,609,760,000! [E] Verification: 29,813,102 divided by 4,320,000 ~= 6.9011 (Manvantaras elapsed). Remaining 0.0989 tallies with 426,898 years remaining in Kalki (432,000 - 5102), confirming we are in the latter part of Seventh Manvantara.
