Caste and conversions

There were some scholarly postings on the subject.

The fact remains that a converted Brahmin (if that is at all possible) is

considered inferior. Why?

As long as certain privileges are granted and enjoyed by any group and denied to

another group based only on birth, the issues of caste will never be settled.

The reason why persons of lower economic strata wish to protect the rights

enjoyed by them based on caste( brahmin) is possibly the economic gains that

they make out of such rights. However the lack of emphasis of the upper strata

on the caste may not always be out of a belief in the relevant scriptures, but

to the lack of economic gains that accrue to them due to caste.

However the enlightened Sri Vaishnavites must try to eliminate the distinctions

and disadvantages among Sri Vaishnavites based on caste. I really heartened that

to find a large number of them in this list. May their tribe increase.
