Swamy Deshikan Thiruvadigale Sharanam !!!

 

On this auspiscious day of Pongal, adiyEn wishing everyone the best in their

spiritual and personal endeavours, would like to publish the status of the

ongoing Multimedia / Encyclopedia CD on Swamy Deshikan.

 

Swamy Deshikan CD owes its concept to the making of the multimedia CD "Sri

Ramanuja" by Dr. Sadagopan and Dr. Alwar.

 

The CD 's prime objective is to reiterate and bring out the glories of Swamy

Deshikan in an electronic form. The CD estate has been categorized

abstractly as -

The Works on Swamy Deshikan was the first to be started with. So far with

the help of devout bhagavathas around 50 works have been accumlulated on

Swamy Deshikan. These works are rare gems composed by Swamy Deshikan's

seniors, juniors, later day acharyas, scholars et al. Some notables among

these are the works of Nayanacharya, Brahmatantra Swatantrar, Annan,

Doddayacharya, Sahasranamam of Thirukkudanthai Deshikan and the magnificent

Vedanta Deshika Vijaya Champu with 540 verses and 94 gadyams on Swamy

Deshikan !!!!!.

A few more works that are known to be extant like Deshika kavacham,

Suprabhatam (3rd Parakala Swamy), Thirumanjana Kattiyam, Laali, Deshika

Yechcharika, Vimshati Ratnamala, Abda malika stotram etc are being searched

for and with the grace of Acharyas, must be available very soon.

 

These works are at present in the process of transliteration, review etc by

Dr. NSA of Bangalore. These might come out as a book much before the CD.

This book has been pledged to be supported by many generous bhagavathas

across the globe. With Swamy Deshikan's anugraham, this might well be

released on the day of thirunakshatram of Srimad Poundarikapuram Srimad

Gopala Deshika Maha Deshikan at Srirangam.

 

Regarding "Works by Swamy Deshikan", many eminent scholars and writers have

been given a few responsibilities in this regard. Work is in progress with

still many works to be covered.

 

The chapter "Life of Swamy Deshikan" will be starting very soon. The main

source for this would be the work Muvaayirappadi Guru parampara prabhavam of

Tritiya Brahmatantra Swatantra Swamy. The pannirayirappadi guru parampara

prabhavam of Dvitiya Brahmatantra Swatantra Swamy is being searched. It

shall make a great source as it is more descriptive in terms of Swamy

Deshikan's life. Life of Swamy Deshikan shall be very detail (around 200

pages with muvaayirappadi) and shall be captured with full pictures and

voice. Though at present only the documentation work is going on. The

multimedia works should start only when the documentation is completed with

review and corrections. It shall also host the life accounts of all the

poorvacharyas of Deshikan till Paraman.

 

It is also being thought to completely bring out all the existing works of

Swamy Deshikan in this CD. This will basically be achieved by photo scanning

all his available books (original sources only) and storing them as pictures

with a viewer interface. This will enable anybody to view or print any work

of Deshikan in its original form.

 

Music and Video clippings of Swamy Deshika utsavams are being thought of but

have not been assembled yet. Bhagavathas having such sources could please

contact me.

 

Looking at the abundance of information on Swamy Deshikan, it does well seem

that it might be referred to as CDs and not CD in future :-).

 

Review support of eminent vidwans and scholars of this group would be

required in the making of this CD(s).

Any sources, pictures, videos, articles etc on Swamy Deshikan and his works

are welcome to be included in this CD. Bhagavathas in possession of such

sources could contact me.

 

In this same note, I would also like to request all bhagavathas to

participate in the Nityaradhanam of Thuppul Deshikan. The contribution would

be 1500 Rs (or equivalent US$ ~30) towards a day's aradhanam. This would be

conducted every year on that day in the name of the donor or whoever the

donor wishes to nominate. Interested Bhagavthas might contact me for the

forms and could send them to Thuppul. Bhagavthas who have received the forms

already, kindly send in your samarpanams at your earliest convenience.
