Guest guest
Dear Srimathi Raji Sridhar: Regarding Your question on the meaning behind NamperumAL's PrayOga Chakram , here are some thoughts. I am copying other lists on my response inview of broader interest in your question : PrayOga Chakram represents the assuring Bhaavam of the Lord ready to release the Sudarsana Chakram to protect His devotees and destroy those who threaten His BhakthAs and BhAgavathAs. The Chakram will be at an angle (Parallel to His face ) ready to travel and not at repose ( perpendicular to HIs Face )as an AbharaNam or in a pose to be used in performing SamAsraYaNam rites . That is how you see the Sudarsanam (Chakram) in most of the ArchA Moorthys. At NaacchiyAr Koil Dhivya Desam , Lord SrinIvAsan used His Chakram adn sankham for performing the SamAsraYaNam rites for Thirumangai Mannan. Yes, there are a few more temples , where the Lord's chakram is in the prayOgam pose. "Pra" in Sanskrit is a prefix usually to verbs to mean "forward ", "forth" , "Onward". With nouns , addition of "Pra" means the commencement . PrayOga means also hurling , discharging or releasing. PrayOgin is is the Lord , who is engaged in PrayOgam. He is also a PrayOjakan or employer of such a weapon for Dharma SamrakshaNam (prayOjanam). Many Veda manthrams will start with "pra" in the front . In Rg Vedam alone , there are more than hundred manthrams starting with "Pra". That will be a separate study to understand their PRAYOGAMS.
