Guest guest Posted February 11, 2002 Report Share Posted February 11, 2002 srimathe ramanujaya namaha namo narayana 1.pls explain other part namely bramhanas. the brahmanas are in prose form .their main aim is to prescribe the rituals in detail and also praise the glory of the devas. 2.how are brahmanas divided? 1.vidhi 2.arthavadha 3.wht is vidhi and marga? vidhi-portions tht give command to do a thing,to perform rituals arthavadha-generally praises the rituals,the glory of devas and also points out their weaknesses.they also contain stories to illustrate the points. 4.wht is the relative importance of thse diff. portions? portions connected with rituals are called karmakanda.generally they teachhow rituals like various yagas are performed.they are also called purvakanda. portions dealing with philosophy and knowledge of brahman are called gnana kanda or brahma kanda. so mantras and brahmans come under karmakanda.upanishads are called gnanakanda.but knowledge of brahman and philosophy are also discussed in mantras and brahmanas. from "a dialogue on hinduism " by sri sri gopaladesikan adiyen madhavadasan Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
