SrImathE rAmAnujAya namah:

Dearest Srivaishnvas,

Let us continue our enjoyment of ThiruppallANdu.

10: ennaaL emperumaan, undanakku adiyOm enRezhuththuppatta vanaaLE,

adiyOngaL adikkudil, veedupeRRu uyndhathukaaN,

sennaaL-thORRith, thiru-maduraiyuL silai-kunindu,

aindhalaiya pain-naagath-thalai-paayn-dhavanE!, unnaip-paLLaaNdu kooRuthumE.

Our Lord! Always eternally we are Your servants enslaved by You. – the day

we mentioned that we have become Your servants with intense desire and

zeal, the same great beautiful day, our – Your eternal servants’- kutil

(hut) has attained salvation. Meaning : we have attained mOksham (for sure.)

Oh Lord! The One who jumped dancing on the heads of KaaLingan (hundred

headed - king of snakes*) making its five elements (Pancha karmEndriyas, or

Pancha jnAnEndhriyas, OR manas, buddhi, ahankaram, Chittham and AthmA – five

) shaken up (aindhu alaiya); who bent the bow of Kamsa! We sing pallANdu to

You.

the day (ennAL) we uttered that we are (realized that) servants of Yours- is

not an ordinary Day; It is a GREAT DAY. That day (annAL) It is most

Beautiful day in our lives- as this is the day that has made us say this. –

is the anubhavam one needs to enjoy.

KrishNA went to MathurA to attend Kamsa’s dhanuryagam; he entered into the

Ayudha saalai (in Kamsa’s place) and bent the bow to break it.

*- sathaika SIrshNa: says Bhagawatha on KaaLinga nardhanam.. So, hundred

headed. (That's why the aindhalaiya is commented by Sri UttamUr swamy as

given above)

11: alvazhakkonRumillaa aNikOttiyarkOn, abimaana thungan

selvanaip pOlath thirumaalE! naanum unakkup pazhavadiyEn,

nalvagaiyaal namO naaraayaNaavenRu, naamam pala paravi,

palvagai yaalum paviththiranE!, unnaip paLLaaNdu kooRuvanE.

Oh Sri kAnthA! Lord of LakshmI! The faultless, ornament of ThirukkOttiyoor –

the chief of Bhagawathas of ThirukkOttiyoor – Sri Selva nambhi – One who has

highest regards and abhimanam towards Bhagawaan and BhAgawathas. Like him, I

am also Your eternal servant for long time (time immemorial). Og Most

Pristinely Purest lord! akilahEya prathyaneekanE! (One who has no blemishes;

and who is untouched by impurities of the Universe!) I sing mangaLAsAsanam

(greetings) to You uttering Divine names of Yours, contemplating the most

esoteric Thirumanthram (ashtAksharam) and its meanings, prostrating at Your

Feet, considering that alone is the Purushaartham (the Goal) and nothing

else!

Al vazhakku- vibharItha jnANam.

Periya Vaacchaan PiLLai mentions: ThirumALE! Implies that this Athma (jIvan)

is the eternal Seshan (servant) of the Divya Dampathi (ivvAthma vasthu oru

mithuna sEsham enRu siddhitthadhu)

This paasuram is said to be sung by the aishvaryaatthees who are invited by

our Azhwar in the 5th paasuram (aNdak kulaththukku), and that’s why they

address Selvan (who is considered even on par with AzhwAr if not above- so

great is he- Selva nambhI)

12: pallaaNdenRu pavitthiranai, paramEttiyai, saarNGgamennum

villaaNdaan-thannai, villipuththoor vishnu-chiththan virumbiya-sol,

nallaaNdenRu-n^avinR-uraippaar, namO-n^aaraayaNaaya-venRu,

pallaaNdum-paramaath-manai ,soozhn-dhirundh-Eththuvar-pallaaNdE.

This pallANdu pAsuram- sung by VishNu Chitthan of Sri VilliputthUr to greet

for very many years on the EmperuMAn who resides in Parama Padham; who is

Pristinely Purest; who has the saarngam (Bow) in his resplendent hand

victoriously. Those who learn, practice and recite (contemplating on the

most esoteric Thiorumanthram – ashtAksharam and realizing the sEshathvam and

dAsyathvam of jIvAthmA to the Lord eternally) this pallANdu- will be blessed

to perform mangaLASAsanam to the Lord of Srivaikuntam, circambulating Him

and prostrating Him with eternal service to Him at all times.

Since the ThirumanthrArtham is to be contemplated while reciting this, it

goes without saying that, this ThiruppallANdu is the essence of PraNavam and

ashtAksharam. It contains the whole 4000’s essence in it, as the praNavam

has the essence of Vedas enshrined in it.

In this greatest treasure, all srivaishnava SamudhAchAram is described very

well. The Lord, His GuNAs, His weapons, His Beauty, PiraattI’s Greatness,

the service that one needs to perform to the Lord at all times as the Only

Goal and enjoyment, the qualifications to perform such a kaimkaryam for

mumukhsus, the detachment towards aishwaryam and Kaivalyam, Pancha

samsakaram that one has to undergo (not just an individual; but the whole

family has to indergo- that is very essential- (kudi kudi AtcheyginROm), the

nAma sangIrthanam, SarNagathi, the Parama padham and the eternal service as

the Parama Purushaathrtham even at parama padham singing pallandu there:- )

Naturally it is PRANAVAM PACKED in 12 pAsurams.

Thus, it is the forerunner of all Veda, Vedanthams, and 4000. Please recite

this daily and contemplate on its beautiful meanings and significance.

PeriyAzhwAr thiruvadigaLE saraNam

Regards

Namo Narayana
