Dear Sri vaishnava perunthagaiyeer,

"Please give us back our husband, he is blessed by you since you placed your

feet on his head". This request was preceded by that fascinating sthuthi of

that lovely chinni krishna. We were enjoying this sthuthi by delineating on

each nama. Let us prosecute that krishNa sthuthi by taking up the next

naama. It is "Om vasudhEva suthaaya nama:"

Prostration to you, oh son, of vasudhEva. There is no such naama in SVSN.

The specialty in samskrit language is coming out here.

vasudhEvan's son is vaasudhEvan. dhasarathan's son is dhaasarathee.

vinathaa's son is vainathEyan. Same letters are used with slight

modification to denote son's or daughter's name. [Perhaps the linguists in

the list can say which other language has this specialty to derive the son's

name from father's with a slight change in usage of the same letters,

without a suffix or prefix being added.]

vasudhEva apathyathvaath cha vaasudhEva: [since born to vasudhEva, he is

known as vaasudhEva] This naama Om vaasudhEvaaya nama: is naama 334th ,

700th , 714th in SVSN.

While son is being glorified by the wives of kaaLiyan, his father is also

recalled and adored. This is the specialty here. But for such an

illustrious son, I am sure, who is going to remember that vasudheva of

vrushNi kulam and his languishing in jail, etc.

While these ladies forgot to glorify the "caretaker fathernandhagopa",

kaaLiyan did not miss him in his sthuthi of the lord.

Please refer sloka 66 of sri vishnu puraanam quoted in post 14 under the

current title.

Just for easiness repeated here.

brahmaadhyairarchithO yasthu gandha pushpaanulEpanai:||

nandhanaadhi samudhboothaissO~rchyathE vaa katham mayaa||

66th slokam 7th chapter 5th amsam srivishnu puraanam

while we deal with this slokam, we will have the meaning. Till then readers

have to bear with.

The next naama is Om pradhyamnaaya nama: - 646th naama in SVSN.

Swamy parasara bhattar says - aathmapraDhyOthavaan pradhyumna:

meaning - Prostration to you, oh lord, who illumines all the souls by your

self-effulgence.

dhyumnam is wealth, pradhyumna: is one who has very special wealth in

absolute terms. Since he is lakshmi pathi- husband of lakshmi goddess of

wealth he is pradhyamna:

In his benevolence, he enriches and adds mighty glory to his devotees.

It is also the third vyuhaa [or form ] of the 4 forms in archa.

The next naama is Om anirudhdhaaya nama: - 187th, 644th naama in SVSN.

Prostration to you, oh lord, who is invincible for any of his enemies.

Anirudhdha is krishna, or janaardhana in archa form in vasu bhaaNda kshEthra

[dhwaaraka?].

Also anirudhdha means one who can not be conquered in a fight.

The next naama is Om saathvathaam pathayE nama: - 514th naama in SVSN.

Prostration to you, oh lord of yaadhavaas, also known as saathvathaas.

"Param brahma" is sath. Saathvathaa: are those who realised what is sath.

The lord of such saathvathaa: is saathvathaam pathi:

The meaning of the krithi of naaraayaNa theertha, which we saw in the

earlier post, is included here.

Pallavi

dhEva guru sikshaam dhEhi pathi Bhikshaam

meaning: Oh guru of demigods, please give us our husband as alms that we

seek from you [by pardoning him].

Another meaning- oh lord who taught the vedhaas etc to brahma, the father of

dhEvaas, the demigods, please grant us the alms - our husband.

Yet another meaning: as guru, oh lord, you are the guide / conductor of

affairs for these dhEvaas, please give back our husband as alms.

[as stated earlier while covering the meaning of bhavaja guravE nama: - as

father of manmatha, guru also mean father in samskrit, besides teacher]

Anu pallavi

dheena paripaalanaaya sveekuru dheekshaam - dhEva

please take up the vow [vratham] of protecting the weaker section [like us].

Some points I want to share with you on this krithi as an excellent

expression of saraNagathi thathvam. Due to length of the post I will give

these points in next post.
