Guest guest
dear friend, Nice that you came out with the chapter and verse of the reference sought by the scholar Sri Martin Gansten. Can either of you please let me know as to where I can procure a copy of the jayAkhya-samhitA (Sanskrit original) ? I have been looking for it ever since my discovery of the iconography of the 'vaikuNTha-chatur-mUrti' (which was popular in the Gupta period). The most beautiful iconic rendition (in metal, a rarity in northern India) of this vaikuNTha is worshipped in the Hari-rAj mandir at the Chamba valley, State of Himachal Pradesh, India. This had been stolen and spirited away from the temple some time in 1971 and was about to be smuggled out of the (then) Bombay airport, when it was discovered and confiscated by the Indian officials. It was put up on display for a while in the office of the Archaeological Survey of India, next to the Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, before being returned to the Chamba valley temple. Best wishes from T.S. Sundara Rajan at Srirangam. - "Ute Huesken" <ute.huesken <bhakti-list> Tuesday, July 02, 2002 3:01 AM Re: A sloka from the Jayakhya Samhita > yasmaD devo jaggannÂthaH kRtvA martyamayIM tanuM > magnAn uddharate lokAn kAru.nyAc chAstrapA.ninA > > jayAhyaS 1,63cd/64ab > > best Ute > > > > > ----------------------------- > - SrImate rAmAnujAya namaH - > To Post a message, send it to: bhakti-list > Group Home: bhakti-list > Archives: http://ramanuja.org/sv/bhakti/archives/ > > > Your use of is subject to > > >
Guest guest
Dear Martin, dear Thirumanjanam Sundaram, sorry for my late reply: The reference is based on Jayakhyasamhita, crit. ed. with an introduction in sanskrit, indices, etc. by Embar Krishnamacharya (Gaekwad Oriental Series 54), Baroda 1931.
