Guest guest
Post 31 Dear Sri vaishNava perunthagaiyeer, My krishNa creates obstacles and checks his devotee's sincerity in carrying out his sthuthi and thus completing his obligation. Again these obstacles are to be removed by that krishNa only for this devotee works at krishNa's will and mercy only, and is totally dependent for krishna's grace and disposal. Continuing the guNa naamaas we saw in post 30, let us recall the slokam first, the naamaas and then go into details of the naamaas [since it was more than 3 weeks since I wrote]. namO guNapradheepaaya guNaathmachchaadhanaaya cha! guNavruthyupalakshyaaya guNadhrashtrE svasamvidhE!! The naamaas available are Om guNapradheepaaya nama: Om guNaathmachchaadhanaaya nama: Om guNavruthyupalakshyaaya nama: Om guNadhrashtrE nama: Om sva samvidhE nama: Taking up one by one, Om guNapradheepaaya nama: - meaning- prostration to you, oh lord, who enlighten / brighten all the characters [guNaas]. Alternately, it can be said as 'prostration to you, oh lord, who is the substance or glory of all the characters. There is no such naamaa in Sri vishNu sahasranaamam SVSN. That way this is a special here. Om guNaathmachchaadhanaaya nama: - this naamaa has to be read as Om aathma guNa saadhanaaya nama: - meaning - prostration to you, oh lord, who is the life giver [or] prostration to you, oh lord, who is the accomplisher over the characters and at times over powering the characters by limiting them to the levels. Again there is no such naamaa in SVSN. Om guNavruthyupalakshyaaya nama: - meaning - Prostration to you, oh lord, who can be realised by the disposition of the characters. [the absolute nature of the lord is such that he can be realised only through the exposition of certain characters when they act through objects of his desire ]. Again there is no such naamaa in SVSN. Thus it is a special one which adequately gives the amount of understanding krishna by these wives of kaaLiyan the snake. Om guNadhrashtrE nama: - meaning - Prostration to you, oh lord, who sees the characters indulging in themselves. There is no such naamaa again in SVSN. As said in srimadh bhagavath geethaa and in other places / references krishna is a saakshee - lOka saakshee- here he is guNa saakshee - he stands apart from the guNaas so that they stand, rise and fall on their own. Yet another classic naamaa by these wives of kaaLiyan. Om sva samvidhE nama: - meaning - Prostration to you, oh lord, one who gains [or takes / acquires / obtains] knowledge from own self - self gained knowledge. Again there is no such naamaa in SVSN. Blessed are these ladies who have such great understanding about the lord. The next sloka is avyaakrutha vihaaraaya sarva vyaakrutha sidhdhayE! hrusheekEsa namasthE~sthu munayE mounaseelinE!! The naamaas are Om avyaakrutha vihaaraaya nama: Om sarva vyaakrutha sidhdhayE nama: Om hrusheekEsaaya nama: Om munayE nama: Om mounaseelinE nama: Dealing with each naamaa - Om avyaakrutha vihaaraaya nama: - meaning- prostration to you, oh lord, who is the elementary substance for distribution or transformation from which all substances are created - or the basic seed of all substances. There is no such naamaa in SVSN. Om sarva vyaakrutha sidhdhayE nama: - meaning- prostration to you, oh lord, who has created and expanded this world into such a magnitude [ sidhdhi - attained - accomplished]. Again there is no such naamaa in SVSN. Om hrusheekEsaaya nama: - naamaa 47 in SVSN. Meaning- prostration to you, oh lord, who is the controller of the sense organs. IndhriyaaNaam niyanthruthvaath hrusheekEsa: - he gets the name by virtue of his joyous and effortless rulership of the sense organs [krusheekaaNi- organs]. The hrusheekEsa naama has in its deeper meaning [or signifies, or says] - the lord is one who becomes himself the worl, exhausts himself in his activities and ultimately packs his toys and goes to rest at the time of dissolution. Actually this is what is said in previous two naamaas and now said in a different way. Another way to put across is- hrusheeka means rays or that which gives joy. Isa the lord for such rays or lord of sun and moon- as purusha sooktha says- sun is born of the yes of the lord and moon from the heart. So the soul beyond sun and moon are krishNa. All this leads to wonder what depth and knowledge these ladies have in understanding the lord krishNa. Om munayE nama: - meaning- prostration to you, oh lord, who is silent or ecstatic person in himself. There is no such naamaa in SVSN. Om mounaseelinE nama: - meaning- prostration to you, oh lord, who practices silence. There is no such naamaa in SVSN. We will continue to see more naamaas in next post. Dhasan Vasudevan M.G. PS: Since I was travelling too much on official business I could not draft and hence this delay. Request bhakthaas to pardon me for that.
