Now AzhwAr enjoys the Kutti KaNNan coming from behind and hugs.. (puRam pulgal) AzhwAr enjoys the scene and feels bliss at Kutti’s hugging from behind. vattun^aduvE vaLar_kinRa maaNikka mottun^unaiyil muLaikkinRamuththEpOl sottuchcottennath thuLikkaththuLikka en kuttanvandhu_ennaippuRampulkuvaan kOvindhan_ennaippuRampulkuvaan. en kuttan – My son- KaNNan- similar to the white little pearls that get dropped, the little droplets of water trickle from the small (growing) bud (male organ) [which is found in between the two blue hued gem-like dark circular ones (bhIjam- testicles)] making “falling” sound from those droplets of water trickling (sottu sottenna thuLikka thuLikka) comes behind and hugs my back. Govindhan’s this water made his cows’ water (gomoothram) more sacred. kingiNikattik kiRikatti kaiyinil kangaNamittuk kazhuththilthodar_katti than_kaNaththaalE sathiraan^adandhuvandhu en_kaNNan_ennaippuRampulkuvaan empiraan_ennaippuRampulkuvaan. With the anklets and waist ornaments tied around the feet and the waist respectively, wearing bangles around his wrists, red coral chain and golden chains around the neck, within a fraction of a second, my KaNNan comes walking along with his battalion (of ornaments) from behind and hugs my back. Within fraction of a second- is to be enjoyed. AzhwAr (YasOdhA) calls him for hugging him; he refuses and goes and walks somewhere else. She feels bad; when she is busy doing something else, he suddenly turns and hugs from behind. kaththakkathiththuk kidandhaperunchelvam oththupporundhikkoNdu uNNaadhumaNNaaLvaan koththuththalaivan kudikedaththOnRiya aththanvandhu_ennaippuRampulkuvaan aayar_kaLERu_enpuRampulkuvaan. It is my wealth; - like that everyone shouts wants to possess- such Saamraajya sampatthu (royal throne) is not shared with Paandavaas and DhuryOdhanan all alone wanted to rule the entire earth. For his whole family to perish the Lord came as KaNNan. Such SarvEshwaran KaNNan comes running from behind and hugs my back. The lion of cowherd group – bull- hugs my back. naandhakamEndhiya nampisaraNenRu thaazhndha dhananchayaRkaaki tharaNiyil vEndhar_kaLutka visayanmaNiththiNthEr oorndhavan_ennaippuRampulkuvaan umbar_kOn_ennaippuRampulkuvaan. KaNNan- who drove the chariot of Arjunan [who had surrendered to Him saying, Oh PurushOtthmA! Who has the sword (nandhakam) in his Hand!] and made other kings in the battlefield shiver with fear seeing the beautiful and strong chariot of Arjunan driven KaNNan. That KaNNan come fron behind and hugs me; the nirvaahakan of the Paramapadhan comes behind and hugs me. veN_kalappaththiram kattiviLaiyaadi kaNpala seytha karundhazhaikkaavin_keezh paNpalapaadip pallaaNdisaippa paNdu maNpalakoNdaanpuRampulkuvaan vaamanan_ennaippuRampulkuvaan. Those days (during Thiruvikrama avatar) the devotees sang in praise of Him and greeted Him, when He measured the earth with three measures of His feet; This Lord- has the sword around His waist plays in the charming cool garden shadows. This playful Boy comes from behind and hugs me. Vaamanan comes from behind and hugs me. ViLaiyaadi- playing- in the first two lines- kaNNan’s play and the second two lines mention Vaamanan’s play. The sword (which is blunt) is for cutting the leaves in the garden so that they will have more space to play. saththiramEndhith thaniyorumaaNiyaay uththaravEdhiyil ninRa_oruvanai kaththiriyar_kaaNak kaaNimuRRumkoNda paththiraakaaranpuRampulkuvaan paaraLandhaan_enpuRampulkuvaan. The Lord- who has PiraaTTi in His ThirumEni- who has the Divya mangaLa vigraham- who took Thrivikrama avatar when he came as little small brahmachari Boy, the Unparalleled One – holding an umbrella- when all kings paid their obeisance in the yaagam performed by MahAbhali who stood seeing Emperumaan in the Yaaga saalai- such greatest Lord comes from behind and hugs me. The One who measures the earth comes from behind and hugs me. poththavuralaikkavizhththu adhanmElERi thiththiththapaalum thadaavinilveNNeyum meththaththiruvayiRaara vizhungiya aththanvandhu_ennaippuRampulkuvaan aazhiyaan_ennaippuRampulkuvaan. The hollow mortar was kept upside down and on top of it, He stood to extend his hand for getting the curd, sweet milk and the butter that were hung from the top in pots;- He ate them all to his stomach full and He is the Swamy of all. Such greatest Sarva Swamy will come from behind to hug me- the One who has the divine chakrA in His Hand will come from behind to hug me. Why did he choose the hollow mortar- pottha ural? Because none will come looking for it. Or YasOdhA would have had many good ones being used in the past by KaNNan for his “purpose” and now she kept only the “holed” one. He used it intelligently keeping it upside down. Or the mortar (ural) was used to climb in order to drill a hole (potthal) at the bottom of the pots. (what a great anubhavam by our AcharyAs!) To drill that hole, he had the ChakrA and hence, AzhwAr refers to ChakrA. The butter itself was in huge pots; To make such butter, how much of milk should have been kept!- one can visualize. (Those who have seen making butter would be able to guess) mooththavaikaaNa mudhumaNaRkunRERi kooththu_uvandhaadik kuzhalaal_isaipaadi vaayththamaRaiyOr vaNanga imaiyavar Eththavandhu_ennaippuRampulkuvaan empiraan_ennaippuRampulkuvaan. The assembly of great knowledgeable elderly Vedic scholars; (in order to see Him in person and pay obeisance to Him - not only to just merely attempt to comprehend Him from vedic hymns; also to enjoy His Divya mangaLa vigraham in Vibhava avatar) the celestial bodies (Devas) assemble in the skies praising Him with sthOthrams, (thus everyone assembled there enjoying His) playing different tunes of music with his flute from a small sand hill (in order to let everyone have a look); and then (suddenly) He would come running towards me to hug me from behind. My Parama upakaarakan will come from behind and hug me. Even those who do now know music can enjoy His playing flute. He dances and plays so nicely and effortlessly. Everyone comes; there is no dhourbhAgya saali (no unfortunate ones. All see Him). The vedic scholars enjoy the esoteric vedic hymns being played so beautifully and mellifluously; the Devas also enjoy the flute music and they start praising the Lord. The One who just enchants the whole Universe and everyone should come (just for me and me alone) from behind and hug me.. For SathyabhAmA, who desired for the paarijaatha (which is like KaRapaka) tree from DEvEndhra lOka, KaNNan immediately said, “I will get it right now” and went to indra lOkam to get the same (Indran fought first and later asked for pardon. Later he pleaded..” this tree came out when we churned the Milky ocean and hence it is the greatest Paarijaatha tree. Please give it back after your avatar at least, Swamin. And KaNNan) gave it back to him after Krishna avatar thereby it is now in Indra lOkam) and planted it in the inner quadrant of SathyabhAmA’s residence where the cool moon shines brightly (meaning the quadrant is open to the skies; and Sun shine comes in for the tree to stay live.. – it is muRRam..) Thus, the tree was saved (uytthavan) by the Lord with His darshan and kataaksham more than the moon rays’) Such greatest One will come from behind to hug me. The director of Paramapadham will come from behind to hug me. KaNNan brought this tree because IndrANi (wife of Indran) had committed some apacharam and hence had to lose this temporarily as sort of punishment. Thus the Paarijaatha tree was given to sathya bhAma. Sri VishNu chitthan’s enjoyment of KaNNan’s vibhava avtaar’s hugging His mother YasOdhA PiraaTTi from behind is sing in ten sweet chaste Tamil pAsurams. Those who can sing (or read this meaning of) this ten pAsurams are blessed with good children (who in turn will be blessed with this Bhagavad vishayam in their life time too) and feel happy. Here in this PAsuram, first KaNNan’s hggung from behind is narrated and then YasOdhA is mentioned. Means: Till last pAsuram, she pleaded Him; now He has come on his own and hugged from behind. – says Sri Manavala manunigaL. AzhwAr thus completes the first patthu. (first hundred). He described in 1. Thirupallandu 2. KaNNan’s birth 3. From the feet to Head description 4. lullaby to Kutti KaNNan 5. calling the moon 6. senkeerai Aduthal (moving to and fro) 7. clapping hands 8. taking faltering steps 9. comes running to hug her from the front 10.
