Srimathe: Ramanujaya Namaha!

Sri Jeeyar Thiruvadigale Saranam!

Anasu:yakaha:

Jealousy is a common qualily. A jealous person

cannot stand a good quality in others, can

neither admire nor appreciate the good traits

and there by tends to regard their good as

bad. Inability to tolerate the good in others

is jealousy. The jealous try to project the

virtues' of others as a drawback.

But SriRamachandra’s nature was to see the

good in everyone. Bharatha, who was in a way

responsible to SriRama’s exile, came to

Chitraku:ta along with all his ministers and

army. Watching the approaching troops from a

tree top Lakshmana accused Bharatha of evil

designs and wanted to punish him. Then

SriRama prevented Lakshmana and praised

Bharatha’s good nature and also his love for

him. SriRama said, “Not only to me he would

give the kingdom even to you if I ask him

to”. One day while walking to the river

Godavari, Lakshmana started blaming Kaikeyie

and praising Bhatatha. Then SriRama told him,

“nathe:m ba: madhyama: tha:tha garhithavya:”

‘You should not accuse our(middle) mother

Kaikeyei’

SriRama taught people to live without

jealousy towards all.

Bhagavan as ‘Para’ has no jealousy towards

the jeevas. He tries to find out if there is

anything good in the offences the ‘jeevas’

commit and awards them better and better

births in future. The reason to be born as

a human being who had been a stone or a tree

or an animal or a bird due to one’s earlier

karma is due to this quality of His, only.

Though it's the nature for a tree to provide

shade who ever comes under it, if by chance

a great soul(maha:purusha) enjoys its shade,

the Lord considers it as an act of ‘punya’

and blesses the tree with a superior birth

next time. Likewise if a mountain or hill

becomes a dwelling place for some noble great

persons, then it is considered as its fortune

and the souls in those ‘stha:vara:s’ will be

granted better births. After attaining this

human body, even when one behaves with a

‘thamasik’ and ‘rajasik’ way with no

intention of turning to Him preferring to

lead a foul, sinful and wicked life , the

Lord scans for something good in one’s

actions committed without one’s intention.

He accepts that as their good. One, who is

not in the habit of going to a temple, if

goes around the temple without the knowledge

of it while attending to some chores,

Bhagavan regards it as a ‘pradakshinam’ to

the temple. When one calls out to his dear

sons and dear relatives whose names fortunately

happen to be the names of the Lord, He will

consider this as chanting the divine names.

While helping somebody, if a great person

(maha:thma) is benifitted unintentionally the

Lord will consider even that act of him and

give him an exalted position. This is

Bhagavan’s nature and He never dishonours

anything good as bad.

People should cultivate this attitude and to

establish the good conduct in the human race

the Lord took the human form in the world and

Na:rada answered Va:lmiki’s question telling

briefly the story of Sri Ramayana. This is

‘Sankshe:pa Ramayana’. Its beginning is

Va:lmiki’s question, "who has the sixteen

qualities?". All these qualities can be

possessed by a human but due to his ignorance

and karma these are neglected and over looked

and the mankind is drifting from the path of

dharma. To teach the humankind the correct

conduct the 'para' had incarnated as 'nara'

‘SriRama’. This is being explained by

Na:rada to Va:lmiki in SriRa:ma:yanam.
