Guest guest
Dear Learned members, Why Dasarathar was given only Swarga prappthi eventhough he had anthima smruthi of Lord Ramachandra? adiyen lakshmi
Guest guest
Hari Om. I hope other learned members will correct me if I am wrong, but remembering Rama as God is different from remembering and sorrowing after Rama the son. Sri Dasaratha was not free of desires for worldly matters. In fact, he married three wives, did not beget sons from any of them and then got them after performing Putrakameshthi (Isthi is a type of Yagna and Putrakama+Isthi means the Yagna performed with a desire for son(s)). >From an esoteric point of view, Dasaratha represents the Jeevatma like us. The ten rathas (dasa+ratha) or chariots, which he rides are the 5 karmendriyas and 5 jnanendriyas. Sri Rama on the other hand represents the Paramatma. But let us not go into more esoteric things right now. The point is unless one is free from desires, one can't get moksha. Svarga on the other hand is available for all jeevas who do satkarmas. Guest guest
The reason quoted by our poorvAchAryAs for this is - because he cared more for "sAmAnya dharma" (of keeping his promise to his wife) rather than the ultimate "dharma" which is bhagavan Himself as in "rAmO vugrahavAn dharma:krishnam dharmam sanAthanam..." etc etc..In fact, if one surrenders to Him only , even antima smriti is not needed and He Himself will remember the prapannan at his/her final moment and grant him/her Paramapadam... bhakti-list, "Gowri Raviganesh" <gowri.raviganesh@r...> wrote: > Dear Learned members, > > Why Dasarathar was given only Swarga prappthi eventhough he had anthima smruthi of Lord Ramachandra? > adiyen > lakshmi
Guest guest
Antima smrti is a very difficult concept. It seems yogis bring their jeevatman at the sahasrara or skull top and just before leaving the body think about a dhyeya vastu in a certain form. hence we do not know what antima smrti of dasaratha even though most of his last days he only thought about Rama. also it matters how he thought? bhava - ye yatha mam prapadyante verse of gita indicates this. regards, Krishna [ The Gita also mentions that antima-smriti or deathbed remembrance is common to all yogis who meditate on Sri Krishna. The final remembrance of those who are intent on bodily prosperity or in the isolated experience of the individual self is also on the Lord but in a different form and for a different purpose. Only the wise bhakta who is an 'ananya-prayojana' -- has no other goal other than the Lord himself -- meditates on the Lord alone as the Way and the Goal in his or her final moments and therefore attains the Lord. Dasaratha from his life story was ostensibly not one of these and saw his goal as the attainment of svarga. -- Moderator ]
Guest guest
Sri Swamy, Thanks for the response. But from what ever I have learnt from Srimath Bagavatham if one chants the name of the Lord at the time of the death by some means the Vishnudhuda's will come to him. As explained with the help of an allegory (Ajamila). Ajamila was only calling for his son NArayana in spite of that the Vishnuthudas came and eventually he went to Vaikuntham. But Dasrathar was in better position. Even though he called for his son, it was the Lord Himself. So adiyen is still not clear why he was granted only swargam. Thanks adiyen Lakshmi
