Guest guest
SrI: SrImathE Ramanujaya namah: Dearest Srivaishnavas, Here is the second part of PeriyAzhwAr Thirumozhi 2.3- Part 2 (7 to 13 pAsurams) mulaiyEdhumvENdEnenROdi nin_kaadhilkadippaippaRiththeRindhittu malaiyaiyeduththumagizhndhukalmaarikaaththup pasun^iraimEyththaay! silaiyonRu_iRuththaay! thirivikkiramaa! thiruvaayar_paadippiraanE! thalain^ilaappOdhE_un_kaadhaipperukkaadhE vittittEn_kuRRamEyanRE. 7. Oh Trivikraama! The One who broke the unparalleled Siva’s Bow! Oh most helpful One for the Ayar paadi. I do not want your breasts and nothing else – saying this, you have thrown away the ear studs. I am chasing You with the studs again. Oh protector, one lifted the mountain as umbrella for us to be saved from the torrential downpour sent by DevEndharan. I forgot to drill those ears when you were young in that cradle. I should have done it at that time itself. That is only my fault. You lifted the huge mountain as an umbrella on your little finger effortlessly. That does not pain you. This little ear stud pains you. Is it? One could have drilled the ear on the 12th or 16th day. I should have done it. en_kuRRamEyenRusollavumvENdaakaaN ennain^aanmaNNuNdEnaaka anpuRRun^Okki_adiththumpidiththum anaivarkkumkaattiRRilaiyE vanpuRRaravinpakaikkodivaamanan^ambee! un_kaadhukaLthoorum thunpuRRanavellaamtheerppaaypiraanE! thiriyittuchchollukEnmeyyE. 8. [Now He says.. when I ate the sand, You angered at me and shouted at me. That’s why I have run away now not wearing those studs. I am taking revenge- says KaNNan. YasOdha replies. It is conversation pAsuram – enjoyed by AzhwAr] Once, when I ate the sand, You were concerned about my digestion lovingly and looked at the sandy hand and the mouth. due to the excessive affection on me, you shouted at me so much and even beat me. Those who tried to stop you beating me, You showed them my sandy hand and mouth. Why? Now my running and throwing away these studs are not my faults. I am only repaying for what you had done. “Oh Vaamanaa! Gune poorNanE! These ears if not worn with these studs, those holes will disappear soon. Parama upakaarakaa! Most merciful and helpful One! Get rid of all sufferings by wearing these threads. I will only insert these threads now. No more those studs. I am speaking truth. [When she said, I will not now put those studs, He laughs. The other girls also laugh. Yasodha and KaNNan talk now] You ate the butter. I saw – saying this, You tied me to mortar and for everyone to see and laugh at me calling me “DhamAdharan”, You tied me so tight. SrIdharaa! Earlier I did that mistake and do not say that and stand far away diverting me. Come near. If you do not waer these, you ear holes will disappear. Wear these threads that are in my hands and do not let these young girls laugh at you anymore at your bare ears and no holes. kaarikaiyaarkkum_unakkum_izhukkuRRen? kaadhukaLveengiyeRiyil thaariyaadhaakilthalain^ondhidumenRu vittittEn_kuRRamEyanRE sEriyiRpiLLaikaLellaarum kaadhu perukkiththiriyavumkaaNdi ErvidaiseRRu_iLankanRu_eRindhitta irudeekEsaa! en_than_kaNNE! 10. [KaNNan- says: They are laughing because they are sure that you will clandestinely put those studs once I come near you. You are cheating with those threads. And Yasodha replies] My ears will burn and swell – these girls will laugh looking at them further. What is the pain for them and for you [with those threads and studs] who are now controlling the smiles on your lips? “I had thought that the ear boring and threading will cause pain for a sisu (infant) and left at your young age. I should have done that at time itself. My fault only. You threw the asurA at the tree and killed both. HrishIkEsaa! My darling One who is like my eyes! See those young boys of Ayarpaadi who wear those lovely studs. [Come and you also wear] You are my eyes, KaNNA! If it pains you, will it not pain me? Can I bear that? That is the very reason for not letting it done few months ago. Now you are bigger and can bear. You threw that asuran. that is fine. But these ear studs are not your enemies. Do not throw them away. kaNNaikkuLirakkalandhu_engumn^Okkik kadikamazhpoonguzhalaar_kaL eNNaththuL_enRum_irundhuthiththikkum perumaanE! engaLamudhE! uNNakkanikaLtharuvan kadipponRum nOvaamEkaadhukkiduvan paNNaikkizhiyachchakadamudhaiththitta paRpan^aabaa! ingEvaaraay. 11. [when YasOdha begged saying thus, He is pleased and looks with His Divine merciful glances on her and at those girls standing nearby. YasOdhA enjoys that insatiable nectar – ArA amudhan- and sings to adorn His ears with studs] Pleased, He looks at the young girls meeting their eyes and entering into their hearts with His divine beauty making it sweet for them always. You are such Parama bhOgyam, Oh Mahaa purushaa! The personification of enjoyment for everyone! parama bhOgyamaanavanE! (engaL amudhE) I will give you all kinds of fruits for you to eat. I will put those ear studs without causing any pain for you at all. Oh Padmanaabhaa! one who kicked the wheel asurA so effortlessly to death! [KaNNan says: Do not put them forcibly holding my hands. If it is put on with no pain- then agreed.] Without pain, I will put them on your ears- and if you forcibly hold my hands and push those studs into my ear holes causing tremendous pain, my ears will only suffer. What is your problem? (for you, none.) I can not bear. Oh NambhI- Guna pooraNanE! You Have agreed so much. Once you sucked the demon Poothanai’s breast and killed her and also lifted your small foot to kill the sakatAsuran (wheel), Oh DhAmOdharA! I have brought the naval pazham (fruits that you relish) for you. See them. Come near. YasOdhA desired to put the ear studs for His darling baby KaNNan and sang these words. These words have been composed with the 12 divine names of the Lord in anthAthi style by Sri VilliputthUr’s PeriyAzhwAr in sweetest chaste Tamil and still He is the insatiable nectar (ArA amudhan). [one can never get satisfied about Him]. Those who read and recite these 12 pAsurams on that ArA amudhan will be blessed to become the eternal servants of Achuthan [at Paramapadham] He is ArA amudhan- these words about Him are also ArA amudham. YasOdhA had desired to put those studs and AzhwAr enjoyed the incident and sand these sweet insatiable pAsurams. One who reads also will be blessed to enjoy to the same extent. He is Achuthan. He does not swerve from what He said. na chyavathE ithyatchutha: one who never lets His devotees down.: na chyaavathI ithi achutha: He is there at Paramapadham at ThirummaamaNi maNdapam for ever. There one can serve Him for ever ozhivil kallamellaam udnaay manni vazhuvilaa adimei seyyalaam. Such will be the fruits for reciting these pAsurams as ArAdhanam with 12 divine names of the Lord.
