Guest guest
SRI RAAMA JAYAM I read, became completely awestruck by Sri Ramani's explanation of the pAsuram by Nammalvar. I beg your pardon as I do not know many pAsurams, being at the initial learning stage, but among those that I have been blessed enough to learn, this one is a personal favourite. The first time I chanced to come upon it, I fell in love with its lyrics and the raaga it was set to - Yamunakalyani - a beautiful raaga, sweet and melodious - calmly driving the great message across in the last two lines. After reading Sri Ramani's explanation, I realised that my understanding of the first two lines were not that accurate but the last two were. Thank you so much Sri Ramani for your beautiful explanation. I carry this pAsuram close to my heart and it brings tears to my eyes each time I sing it for it has the capacity to touch the hearts of those who hear and contemplate on it. I have often wondered how great these souls must be - to be able to concise the great philosophy of our religion in just 4 lines. Divinity unparalled to no other!! which is what draws me to pAsurams so much - a short 4 to 8 lines but so profound in their meaning. So much their love for Bhagawan must have been... and Bhagawan too must have showered his blessings upon them and enabled them to serve HIM and to pass on such beautiful and incomparable treasures to HIS Bhaktas. For that is how much Bhagawan must love us all - giving us this life and also showing us the way to reach HIS lotus feet too - a true teacher, guide, philosopher, companion and father to me. I am too humbled by the extent of the knowledge possessed by the members of this list. I shall remain eternally grateful for the knowledge that I have gained and shall continue to gain from you all. I only wish that I can do more than just be in the receiving end. Thank you all again and please forgive me for I have penned down my inner thoughts and what I feel from the heart in plain simple words.
