Guest guest
> Dear Sri Ramani, > The literary translation for the Nammalvar pAsuram was very good! > I really liked it. The choice of the word "samayam" and its meaning The 'Idu' doesn't > interpret it like that. It is "vyavastha"- an arrangement or > agreement, fixity, a way that is naturally ordained for a person, > "uriyanavAga ERpattuLLa muRaimai". So "avaravar samayam thORum > thOyvilan" is interpreted as 'He is unaffected by the inherent, > natural characteristics of those beings' > Thanks Sri.Vijay for the explanation. "Idu" interprets the line as "ellA acEtanamum ellA cEtanarum tAnEyAy antantac cEtanarutaiya (acitsamsarkkanipantamAna) tEvati vyavastaikalil (avarkalaip pOlat tanakku) cankamillAtavanAy...." Your reading of the verse maintains a better cohesion than my reading. So "camayam" in context means the nature of being which you have read as the "natural characteristics of those beings". In line with "cettatin vayiRRil ciriyatu pirantAl ettai tinru enkE kitakkum?" and the answer thereof, your interpretation is more plausible than mine. Please accept my apologies for the hasty translation and the imperfect understanding of mine. Regards, Ramani
