Dear Bhaktas,

This is a brief note on Gitarthasangraha. Gitarthasangraha was a

commentary by Alavandar on the Bhagavad Gita. This commentary is in

Sanskrit. Sarvatantra Swatantrar, Swami Desikan wrote a commentary on

the Gitartha Sangraha also named the same in Tamil.

Uttamur Veeraraghavachar, honorifically called Abhinava Desika or the

contemporary desika wrote a masterly and easily comprehendable

commentary in tamil titled gita saaram. This book was published in

1966 in Tamil. Sri K Bhasyam translated it into English. This series

will be translating the print edition to electronic format for two

reasons. One, this is a start to one of my long term projects to make

a comprehensive website on the sri sookthis of our acharyas in

electronic format so as to preserve them for future generations to

come.

Two, this is the first brief explanatory series for the other two

series on gita to follow. The following two will be detailed

commentaries. I am hoping this series will serve as a base to

understand the other two.

Regards,

Adiyen Ramanuja Dasan,

Malolan Cadambi
