Guest guest
Dear Bhakthi Group Members This is regarding the kalyAna gunAs explained by Sri Mani. In this regard, I wish to quote Sri Pillai LokAchAryA s Mumookshuppadi and the corresponding vyAkyAnam of Sri manavAla mAmunigal. When explaining the nArAyana padham in first sentence of dhvayam =136 of mumookshuppadi "purushakAra balathAlE swAthantharyam thalai sAindhAl,thalai edukkum gunangalai sollugiradhu nArAyana padham" As a fallout of the Mercy of Sree, the independent qualitites attached to the Supremacy- which do not permit to accept the sinful souls- gets mellowed and the auspicious qualities i.e. kalyAna gunAs spring up into prominence. These auspicious qualities are then explained in 137 of Mumooshuppadi. "avaiAvana -vAtsalyamum, swAmithvamum, sowseelyamum, soulabyamum, gnanamum , sakthiyum" 1.vAtsalyam= The quality of considering the sins themselves as a plus point. 2.swAmithwam= Even during the chethanA s period of indifference towards Him, the Lord intends the good for the chethanA. This relationship is there always at all stages. That is being the owner the relationship continues for ever. 3. sowsElyam-ignoring His supremacy and overlooking our smallness, the quality of mixing with us freely. 4. soulabyam-The Lord who is invisible becomes visible and approachable by one and all. 5.gnAnam- the quality of comprehending the difficulties and hardships of chethanA which have to be removed and and to understand the wishes which have to be blessed to them. 6.sakthi- the quality of class act to make a mix of the heterogeneous class of samsAris and nithyargal. Of these the 4 qualities namely vAtsalyam, swAmithwam, sowsElyam and soulabyam have been succinctly mentioned by Azhwar in thriu voi mozhi 6-10-10 " nigaril pugazhAi" 1. nigaril pugazhAi= vAtsalyam 2. vulagam moonrudaiyAi= swAmithwam 3. ennai AlwAnea= souseelyam 4. ThiruvEnkadathAnea= Soulabyam In mumookshuppadi 138 the effects of these qualities are explained. " Kutrangandu veruvAmaikku vAtsalyam; kAryam seyyum enru thunigaikku swAmithwam; swAmithwam kandu agalAmaikku sowsElyam; kandu patrugaikku soulabyam; virodhiyai poakkith thannai kodukkaikku gnAna sakthigal;" To ignore the sins and accept = vAtsalyam; To have confidence that our matter will be done = swAmithwam; Not to move away due to awe on looking at the swAmithwam= sowsElyam; To visibly see and approach and surrender unto Him= Sowlabyam To remove the hindranes of the chethanAs and bestow their wishes = gnAna Sakthigal. And then Sri Pillai LokachArya goes on to explain the ultimate in Soulabyam being NamPerumal. Thus we can observe that the above qualities are the prime kalyana gunAs which are fundamental when the souls are being showered with Mercy or kripa. Padmanabhan.
