By 'chiru kAlE' KOdhA piRAtti should be alluding to the early morning. If you look at the paasuram .. chitran chiru kAlE vandhunnai sEvithhu un pottrAmarai adiyE pOtrum pOruzh kELAi petramaithunnum kulathil pirandhum nee .... 'un pottrAmarai adiyE' clearly indicates that chiru kAlE must be the 'Early morning'. Also petramaithunnum kulathil pirandum nee --- addresses to Govindan which will not fit in properly if you interpret chiru kAlE as His lotus feet. Further we never call His lotus feet as 'kAl' but rather as Thiruvadi or 'adi' etc. 'kAl' usually will be used for ordinary people and not for Azhwars, Acharyas and Emperuman and His divine consorts.
