Vanakkam,

Could someone please send me the contexts of the

two Sahasranaamas ? What were the questions that lead to

each of the Sahasranamam's. If I am not mistaken the

Shiva Sahasranama was given to us by Lord Krishna ?

Dear Chellam,

My understanding about Vishnu Sahasranamam is it is part of

Mahabharata and first recited by Bhisma at his death bed.

There is no Shiva Sahasranamam, but there is a Lalitha Saharanamam.

The following link will help

Dear Venakatesan:

There are at least 11 Rudra (Siva ) Sahasra Naamams

housed in various Siva PurANams.

One of them has been commented upon by

Chidambaram DhIkshithars since it

deals with Lord NatarAja .That Sahasra Naamam

is used regularly there.
