Dear SrIman Srivatsa :

I have forwarded your query to two BhakthAs ,

who are very knowledgable about Kanchi and

environs. They would be able to answer your question

regarding the lodgings at Kaanchi . Typically,

many stay at Madras and take day trips to Kaanchi

inspite of the fact that such an arrangement requires a car

and crimps the programs due to Koil Kaalams. It is much

nicer to spend a few days since there are atleast 18

Dhivya dEsams and other AchArya KshEthrams at Kooram

(SrI KooratthAzhwAr ) , ThUppul ( Swamy Desikan)

and SrI RaamAnujA ( SrIperumbhUthUr)near by.

I will pass on the recieved input to you.

V.Sadagopan

P.S: You should be able to rest at SrI Ahobila Matam

at Sannidhi Street , Kanchi with Family and offer

a SamarpaNam for prasAdhams and Overnight stay.

This is if you prefer not to stay in a hotel.

Dear Sri Kidambi

My maternal uncle Sri Sadagopan lives in Sannadhi Street very close to the

Lord Varadrajaswamy temple. He is from the Tatachari lineage. He could be of

help.If you can provide me with probable dates of your visit and other

details,I can speak to him and request him to assist you.

Regards.

Dear Sir,

The most convenient lodge in Kanchipuram is Sri Rama Lodge, just diagonally

opposite the bus stand and at this end of Nellukara Street. From here, Chinna

Kanchipuram is about 4 kms away and there are local buses plying between the two

ends of the town.

While coming back from Athigiri, one can get down at Theradi (Temple Car stop)

and take a stroll in the road running parallel to the main arterial road (Gandhi

Road) of the town. In this area, there are divya desams such as Villakadi koil,

ashtabujam and thoopul at the other end of this road. Coming back to the lodge,

one can walk across to Ulagalandha perumal koil just 200 metres away from Rama

Lodge and a further 200 metres away is Kamatchi Amman koil. Inside this temple

is Nilathingalthundam.

Moving about 8 kms away on the B'lore highway is Dhamal (Thiruputkuzhi) - I

think there are many buses in that direction. Moving South, one can visit

Uthiramerur though not a divya desam.

Anantha PraNamam to all.

Small clarification.

1. NilAtthooNdatthAn sannidhi is in EkAmbarEshwara

templs and not in kAmAktchi amman temple.

2. There are few more divyadEsams in the vicinity of

the bus stand - PANdavadoothar, VaikuNtha perumaL,

pacchaivaNNan, pavazhavaNNan, near thooppul is ALari

azhagiya singar etc..
