Guest guest
Azhi mazhaik kaNNA ARayirappadi AvadhArigai. On seeing the girls performing the pAvai nOmbu, the rain dhEvthA comes to them and waits for their command with the intention of doing a part in the activities of bhAgwadhAs. On this, the girls asked him to bring rain so that the world should feel "O! the nOmbu has commenced and the rain has come" and gave it written in a pice of paper for rememberance(kaiOlai seidhu kodukkiRArgaL) The dhEvthAs are thus give a helping hand to srEvaishnavites. They are bound to so. on a question that why srEvaishnavites do not approach dhEvthAs, sri kUrathu AzhwAn expressed that the question should be,'why dhEvthAs do not approach srE vaishnavites?' How come that sreevaishnavites who are longing for being with Lord KrishNa can approach other dhEvthAs for these matters is another question raised. The response is that, on the contrary dhEvthAs approach sreevaishnavites for kainkaryam. Is it possible that dhEvthAs who are on an elevated pedestal descend to do kainkaryam for sreevaishNavites. When Lord KrishNa Himself descend into the AippAdip peNgaL and do as per their wishes, can't dhEvthAs do this? This can be clearly understood from thiru mazhisaip pirAn's pAsuram" thiRambEan min kaNdEr thiruvadithan nAmam, maRandhum, puRam thozhA mAndhar'nAnmugan thiruvandhAdhi 68 The king of yama lOka yamarAjA advised to his emissaires that "beware when you see sreevaishnavites. If you show your supremacy on them, my supremacy will be lost". On this, they enquired" All along, we were thinking that you were our lord. is there anybody else?" Yes, those devotees who do not even worship other dhEvthAs even by loss of memory, are to be worshipped. Hence, when you see such type of devotees, give them respect and go pass their way pleasantly" is the instructions given by yamA. The same sentiments are exprssed in the pAsuram-s "avan thamar evvinaiyar Ayinum...naman thamarAl arAyap pattaRiyAr" mudhal thiruvandhAdhi 55, "mARu seidha vAL arakkan" thiruch chandha virutham116 and "vaLLale undhamark enRum naman thamar kaLLar pOL' periya thiru mozhi 8-10-7. It may, thus be, inferred from the above explanations and quotes that : a. dhEvthAs are inclined to do kainkaryam to sreevaishnavites; b. In fact, they rever the sreevaishnavites whenver they meet them or otherwise. c. The question should be what should be their attitude when they see us rather than our attitutde when we see them and hence, the rain dhEvthA approaching the AippAdip peNgaL for this kainkaryam is fitting within the sreevaishnavic parlance. vAnamAmalai padmanAbhan
