Guest guest
Smt. Vathsala, I would refer you to the article "thiruppavai - 3" of Shri Anand Karalappakam dt.28/2/99 appearing in BHAKTI LIST ARCHIEVES 1999, which in my opinion will clear your doubt. Iam regularly watching thirupavai upanyasam in jaya TV by Shri Andavan Swamilgal and Shri Azhagiya Singar swamigaL and also Shri Velikudi krishnan swamigaL thru podigai TV. I happened to visit some temples around madras to hear the upanyasams. In every upanyasam, i find the explanation about how Andal in the baavam of gopika wakes other girls to sing on krishna. No upanyasakar told how this thirupavai is "vedamanaithukkum vithu".How can a simple "wake up" songs be seed of all vedas? Is it a right statement or statement to just praise thirupavai? I request learned members to clear my doubt. If my question is wrong, forgive me. Vathsala Srinivasan
Guest guest
Sri Krishnaswamy, Thanks for your response. I read the tirupavai articles in the archives posted by shri anand. But i do not find the answer to my question on that. He has mentioned generally to divyaprabandams and referrred govinda jeer's incident. But note that "vethamanaithukum vithakum kothai thamizh i iyainthum iyunthum" which refers to thirupavai alone. In the upanyasams which happen now including the ones which i referred in my question, we do not hear anything which relates to veda. They all say that she went to each house and trying to wake up Girls to sing in praise of lord. And in some pasurams, continous argument between and girl who sleep inside and andal standing outside were explained. My doubt is that how come a wake up songs of this kind be "vedamanaithukkum vithu"? Iam strongly beleive that there should be some strong meaning behind that word "vethamanaithukum vithu" as our Great Ramanuja became and was called thirupavai jeer. Iam chanting daily the thaniyan and pasurams but will get conviction over it if the doubts get cleared. Vathsala Srinivasan. krishnaswamy raman <kraman_022 wrote:Smt. Guest guest
Dear Srimati Vatsala, The vedas are eye openers and show mere mortals like us the "Param Purusha" Sriman narayana , in the same way these 30 pasurams are supposed to wake people like us who are sleeping despite having our eyes open and attain the "Thriruvadi" of Sriman narayana. I have heard frm purna adhikaris in Vedas that each vedas take around 32 years to only by heart them. The comes the part of interpreting it . What ever vedas establish with such great diffficulty, Goda Pirati just described in mere 30 pasurams and showed us the way to attain "Paraman Adi". Thats why in the early pasurams she repeatedly askes people like us who are always sleeping to wake up and realise the supreme being which is "Sriman narayana". Thats the reason why "Thrupavai" is called as "vethamanaithukum vithu". I sincerly request all the learned bhagavats to pardon any wrong interpretation on adiyens part. Dasan , Anand P.S: I think due to lack of time allocated by the TV programs, acharyas would find it extremely difficult to explain each and every intricacy involved (which are so beautiful and these explanations have been provided by all the porvacharyas)in "Thirupavai" and so they resort to only giving the gist of the pasurams. So please do understand acharyas position in the TV programs.
