Dear Devotees,

Happy Sankaranti, happy Pongal to you all.

I would like to share the following which I sent first to Shri Sandeep Iyengar

who wrote an excellent prayer song that is a garland of flowers plucked

from the garden of our puranas/mythological tales. I am sure we have

many more such poets in our group.

Dasan,

M.K. Krishnaswamy

Dear Sri Sandeep,

That was really great and impressive, your recent posting in the Bhakti-List.

I was motivated to add a few more "Will you be"s and am attaching the piece that

I built on your writing for my personal use. The credit is all yours only.

Dasan, Krishnaswamy

PRAYER from A SOUL IN DISTRESS

Will you be -

my Sanjaya in vision

if I were to be a blind Dhritharashtra

and let me see the world through you?

my Krishna in knowing (Gnyana)

if I were to be an Arjuna in battle

and help me see the purpose of my life ?

my Krishna in friendship

if I were to be Sudhama in poverty;

and never let prosperity affect our closeness ?

my Krishna in dire need

if I were to be a Draupadi

abandoned by my kith and kin

and save my honor and virtue?

my Lord Vishnu when I am in deep trouble

if I were to be a Gajendra in the grip of

the vicious grip of the crocodile of my senses,

and come rushing to grant me release (moksham)?

my Duryodhana in support

if I were to be a Karna in distress;

and not judge me by my orphan status?

my Hanuman in valor

if I were to be a Lakshmana dying

and move mountains to save my life ?

my Rama in magnanimity

if I were to be a Vibheeshana in need of refuge;

and give me shelter without question?

my Rama in removing the wounds of curses

if I were an Ahalya turned to stone

and grant me deliverance

by the mere touch of your sacred feet?

my friend, philosopher and guide,

And help me see

the God in me

and God in all beings?

my God in this my Life

In thought, word and deed of mine

And grant me wisdom supreme

To cross the ocean of Samsara.
