Guest guest
Dear devotees, Just a stray thought which I want to share with you all. Our Lord in Vaikuntam is wanting in nothing - He is Poornam in every respect. So, what service can his devotees render to Him after reaching His abode? Whenever He deems it necessary, He himself comes down to protect the righteous and uphold Dharma. When He thus took avataar as Rama, it is said, all the Devaas were born as monkeys to assist Him on earth. Perhaps, this is the noble task that we are expected to perform even after reaching Vaikuntam. Not only when He takes Avatar for a great task, but also whenever other tasks are to be performed to assist His devotees and support Sanatana Dharma, saints who lead us are born from time to time with a spark of the Divine and do His glorious work. In Bhagavad Gita (IX-41), Lord Krishna has declared that whenever we observe such great individuals, we must understand that it is all a product of His Power and Glory. So, when we attain freedom from the unending and vicious cycle of births and deaths, and ascend to Sri Vaikuntam, we are entering into a different but glorious phase of service to our Lord. He may send us "on deputation" to this world again, investing us with a spark of his power and glory to render service in an area selected by Him. This is the "promotion in service" that all of us should desire and work for and qualify for 'selection'. When we meet such individuals, we must remember to recognize this Divine aspect in them. Even to have contact with them is surely a great Bhagyam! Dasan Krishnaswamy M.K.
Guest guest
Dear Sri Vasudevan, The following sentence is from the article: A Spiritual Overview - 1 (Article by Sri U Ve VN Vedantha Desikan): which may be seen at http://www.munitrayam.org/andavanashram/SpirtualOverview.htm "Ramanuja is believed to be the incarnation of Adisesha, the first and foremost of Nityasooris." The Lord takes birth at his pleasure and his appearance is welcomed as an Avatara. The Muktaatmaas take birth only when commanded by the Lord to render Him service through some action in this material world which He considers necessary for Dharma-rakshaNa. It is in this sense that I compared their births to being sent on deputation. In govt. service in India, when you are sent on deputation, you hold a lien on your previous job! The rebirth of other baddhaatmas follows the general karmic rule and hence is different in nature from the incarnations of the great, free souls who obey the Lord's wishes, get reborn, perform their allotted tasks and go back to Vaikuntam - sort of an ad hoc appointment!. You have raised an important issue (and quoted an Acharya's observation). I feel that therefore this could be considered by other members of the group also and hence I am endorsing a copy to the Group. Dasan, Krishnaswamy - Sridhar Vasudevan krishnaswamy Saturday, January 25, 2003 10:35 AM Re: Dog' Life Dear SrIman Krishnaswamy, Mukkur Jeeyar in his Tiruppavai kalakshepam conveyed that Lord Himself has said the He cannot send a muktAtma back to this world. (vide sri. Madhavakkannan's mail during the recent dhanur masAm) Could you kindly clarify, how can it be possible to send such Atmas on deputation for us. Although adiyen fully got the gist of Swamin's instruction while approaching such individuals (possibly acharyas). Dasan Sridhar Vasudevan "M.K.
