Doubts on Golden Deer

Dear Friends,

It is going interesting..But it is kindling our mind and bringing more

questions..

Was there any reason to send Maricha in the form of Golden Deer as ravana

insists specifically about this form?

If we see in the aranya kandam, Rama gets the things like setting up ashram etc

thru Lakshmana. Same way he could have asked lakshmana to execute this task

too. Why did he go personally to get the deer? Was there a secret in this act?

Can anyone elucidate?

Thanks,

Srinath

Do not forget Raama was in Maanusha Avatra and acted

like a simple man to please his wife for a simple

request. Even in most difficult times, Rama being

man, wanted to please his wife in very a personal way.

That is the reason why he himself went. Secondaly,

Ravana knew that only Rama will go after the deer and

therefore had instructed Maareecha to Call"Raama" if

and when struck by an arrow. obviously,Maaricha was

trained only call "Raama".

A very nice topic indeed. Call it good timing, this

doubt has always been lingering in my mind. Will I be

wrong if I say that Rama was nice and merciful to all

the jeevas??? If so, how can he hurt a poor harmless

deer (if we forget Mareecha for the moment)??

I do understand that hunting in the forest is a part

of Kshatriya Dharma, but is there any mentioning of

Rama hunting in any other part of the Ramayana???

I remember reading somewhere that Arjuna (even

Krishna) would go to the forests to hunt, to hone

their skills in archery, did they go after just the

carnivores, or even the herbivores??

I shall be thankful to anybody who clears my doubts.

Greetings to you all:

I am amazed by the sheer response to my doubt, in fact when I decided to ask

this question, I thought it would be answered in a line by scholars in this

group, but I am blessed with so many information.

thank you all, and we still not able to come to a conclusion, as every views

seems to hold its own validity based on Puranas, as we churn our Knowledge,

we are at total bliss of reading so many divine thoughts.

today I was reading Jayadeva's Dasavatara Stortra, in which Buddha is

mentioned as the 9th avatar of Sriman. Narayanan, but I am not sure whether

we believe Buddha as the 9th avatar?? may I know views of our members in

this context please.

Dear Smt Vasantha,

My question was why Ravana asked Maricha to go in Golden Deer form.

And why did he go personally to get the deer?

Iam not getting your point "Maaricha was

trained only call "Raama". Maricha never called "Raamaa" But note that he called

"hey lakshmana ..hey sita.." after rama bowed him down.

Thanks,

Srinath
