Guest guest
Priya Bhagawatas. With reference to the query regarding Anadhyayana kaalam I am enclosing the writeup given in the question and answer session available in the following site www.chinnajeeyar.org Quote: 6. What is 'thirukkarthi' ? Why Prabandhas are not recited during this period ? Ans. The time period from Thirumangai A:lwa:r Thirunakshathram to Ku:raththa:lwa:r Thirunakshathram is called Thirukka:rthi. In olden days, during Adhyayanothsavams of Srirangam temple, Namma:lwa:rs and other Alwars from different Divya De:sa:s were brought to Srirangam. This was an arrangement made by Thirumangai Alwar. As A:lwa:rs are not present in those respective Divya De:sa:s and the Prabandha scholars also used to go to Sriramgam, they used to stop reciting Divya Prabandhas in those temples. In Srirangam, it used to take 10 to 20 days to do Prabandha Pa:ra:yana for those A:lwa:rs brought from Divya De:sa:s. After finishing that, again, A:lwa:rs used to return to their respective Divya De:sa:s. For this it used to take 45 days to two months. Hence, this time was set as Anadhyayana, ie., Prabandha:s were not read in those temples during these days. As by the time they reach their respective temples, there comes Ku:raththa:lwa:r Thirunakshathram. Hence, from Ku:raththa:lwar Thirunakshathram, again Prabandha:s will be recited. To follow the uniformity in all the Divya De:sa:s, Until Ku:raththa:lwa:r Thirunakshathram, Prabandha:s were not recited and from that day, again they resume to recite Prabandhams. As the rule is formulated by Thirumangai Alwar, to remember that, from Thirumangai A:lwar Thirunakshathram onwards, Divya Prabandha:s will not be read. There is difference in the A:ra:dhana followed in the houses and that in the Temples. From Thirumangai A:lwa:r Thirunakshathram, it is followed in Temples and from the next day, it is followed in the houses too, as a mark of respect. Incidentally it happened that the next day to Tirumangaia:lwa:r Thirunakshatram is Thiruppa:na:lwa:r Thirunakshathram. There is no connection between Thiruppa:na:lwa:r Thirunakshathram and Dravida Ve:da Nigamanam. After Thirukka:rthi, while restarting to recite the Dravida Ve:dam, in houses, they start in the morning of Ku:raththa:lwa:r Thirunakshthram day and in temples, according to the convenience, they start in the morning or in the evening on the same day. Back 7. During Thirukkarthi if Dhanurma:sam comes, then how to recite Thiruppa:vai during Dhanurma:sa Vratham ? Ans. During Dhanurma:sam if Thirukka:rthi comes, then, Thiruppalli Yeluchchi and Thiruppa:vai can be recited as usual. These two were exempted from the Nigamanam. As A:nda:l sung the Thiruppa:vai during this Dhanurma:sam only and this is the Vratham that one has to do during Dhanurma:sam only, Thiruppavai is exempted from the Thirukka:rthi's Prabandha Nigamanam rule. As Thiruppalliyeluchchi is the Prabandham that is sung to wake up Sri:rangana:tha, that purpose exactly matches with the Purpose of Thiruppa:vai Vratham ie., to teach Sri Rangana:tha how to become favourable to us at the earliest. Hence, Thriuppalli Yeluchchi will also be recited even if it is Thirukka:rthi. However, it should be noticed that, while offering it as Vratham Kainkaryam to Lord, during Thirukka:rthi, these Thiruppa:vai and Thiruppalli Yeluchchi should not be recited in the other times except in the early hours of Thiruppa:vai Vratham. I am sure definitely somebody would have answered this question..If yes can someone forward me the archive ID I would like to know why the 'Prabhandam' should not be rendered during the month of Margazhi ? Some people are telling that the Prabhadam sevai should not be performed till the "Koorathazhvar Nakshatram" (in the month of Thai) but some people are telling that it can be performed once the Margazhi month is over? Which one is correct ? What is the reason behind it ? - Adiyen Ramanuja Dasan Balaji
