As we have seen in previous posts, the naamaas are given different meaning even though the naamaa is repeated thereby enhancing the taste of enjoying my krishna. With the completion of these naamaa repetition posts, I am completing this series of SVSN posts. a. Four times repeated naamaas: 1. Om praaNa dhaaya nama: [For sri bhattar 4 repeats, for sri sankara it is three only as explained below] -- naamaa no. 66 occurring in slOkam 8 Meaning: - the life giver for all souls. - one who gives praanaa to all. Also naamaa no. 323 occurring in slOkam 34 - the life giver to dhEvaas in the koorma avathaaram --- incarnation of koorma. - he is the one in the form of vital air sustains life in all creatures. Also naamaa no. 409 occurring in slOkam 44 - One who gives praaNaa to all - another meaning - also one who takes the praaNa. [dha means giving as well taking away] Also naamaa no. 956 occurring in slOkam 102 - the life giver - redeemer of souls. -The vital source of power to all and their senses etc. [for sri sankara this naamaa in 408 is considered as praaNadhaayai and hence can not be treated as four repeats, but only three repeats. - meaning wise it is same.] 2. Om nivrutha aathmanE nama: [For sri bhattar 4 repeats, for sri sankara it is three only as explained below] -- naamaa no. 231 occurring in slokam 25 meaning: he whose nature transcends above all others - ever immaculate. also naama no.453 occurring in slokam 48 meaning: he whose mind is turned away from worldly desires. also naama no.604 occurring in slokam no. 64 meaning: he who is lord of sentient souls who tread the path of nivruththi dharma. Also naamaa no. 780 occurring in slOkam 83 meaning: he who is inherently totally detached. [Naamaa 452 is considered as Om vimuktha aathmane nama: by sri sankara and hence for him it is only 3 repetitions in this naamaa nivruthaathmanE nama: ] 3. Om sree mathE nama: [For sri bhattar 3 repeats, for sri sankara it is four as explained below] -- Naamaa no. 22 occurring in slOkam 2 meaning: - sree means aisvaryam - sree also means light effulgence, glory. for sreemathE nama: - who possesses sree of superb beautiful form - who is always with sree. Also naamaa. no. 180 occurring in slOkam 19 meaning: who possesses beauty and splendour, affluence. - who is constantly courted by all glories is sreemaan also naama no. 222 occurring in slOkam 24 meaning - who is endowed with un-diminishing wealth one who has light effulgence or glory. Also naamaa no. 613 [no. of naamaa according to sri sankara- occurring in slOkam 65] meaning: who possesses all riches glories capacities and beauties - abode of all splendour. [this naamaa sreeman is combined with previous naama shrEya and dealt by sri bhattar as "shrEya sreemaan" in naamaa no. 619- giving meaning one who permanently united with lakshmi. He who is resorted to as the goal of all human endevour. b. Three times repeated naamaas: 4. Om vishNave nama: -- naamaa no. 2 occurring in slOkam 1 meaning: - one who pervades Also naamaa no. 259 occurring in slOkam 28 Meaning: the pervader Also naamaa no. 663 occurring in slOkam 70 Meaning: who pervades the entire universe 5. Om padhma naaBhaaya nama: -- naamaa no.48 occurring in slOkam 6. Also naamaa no.198 occurring in slokam 21. Also naamaa no. 348 occurring in slokam 38. meaning: for all 3 - he who has a lotus in his naval. 6. Om praaNaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 67 occurring in slOkam 8 [praaNithi ithi praana:] Meaning: - the very life breath - he is the one who ever lives. Also naamaa 322 occurring in slOkam 34 Meaning: the life breath of all beings - he is the one in the form of vital air that sustains life in all creatures. Also naamaa no. 408 occurring in slOkam 44 Meaning: - the vital air as praaNa he is the one causes movements in the body. 7. Om maaDhavaaya nama: -- naamaa 73 occurring in slOkam 8 Meaning: - lord of lakshmi Also naamaa no. 169 occurring in slOkam 18 Meaning: profounder of knowledge of supreme being Also naamaa no. 741 occurring in slOkam 78 Meaning: the consort of lakshmi 8. Om ajaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 96 occurring in slOkam 11 meaning: the unborn. - one who removes all hindrances that stand in the way of attaining him. Also naamaa no. 206 occurring in slOkam 22 meaning: the unborn - birth less - also brahma Also naamaa no. 524 occurring in slOkam 56 meaning - arising out of the first alphabet a [ja means born, a means supreme lord, so it is son of Krishna the pradhyumna akaara vaachyan vishNu, also it can be brahma for he is born in the lotus arising from navel of vishnu.] 9. Om achyuthaaya nama: [For sri bhattar 3 repeats, for sri sankara it is two only as explained below] -- naamaa no. 101 occurring in slOkam 11 meaning: who is never separated. also naamaa no. 320 occurring in slOkam 34 meaning: chyutha means fallen or modified - achyutha- never fallen, who has not got any modification also naamaa no. 557 occurring in slOkam 59 meaning: he who never slips down from eternal form "yasmaath na chyuthapoorva aham achyuthasthEna karmaNaa - I have never ever fallen before from my real nature. Therefore I am achyutha [Naamaa no. 552 as per sri sankara is combined with previous naamaa sankarshaNa and interpreted as sankarshaNOchyuthaaya nama: hence for him two repeats only] 10. Om vasavE nama: -- naamaa no. 105 occurring in slOkam 12 Meaning: he who dwells in the minds of his devotees.- One who is the very essence of the elements [or the womb] Also naamaa no. 271 occurring in slOkam 29meaning: he who himself is the wealth.- vasu means wealth, veil and sun - one who allows all the things and beings to exist in himself.vaasayathi ithi vasu:. Also naamaa no. 701 occurring in slOkam 74 Meaning: - the dweller in the milky ocean - the refuge for all. 11. Om sathyaaya nama: -- naamaa no. 107 occurring in slOkam 12 Meaning: he who is well disposed towards pious and good people - he who is real. Also naamaa no. 213 occurring in slOkam 23 Meaning: the good - the embodiment of truth. Also naamaa no. 873 occurring in slOkam 93 Meaning: - he who is established in truth. that which remains same in all three periods viz. Past present and future. 12. He who ends various paths that go from birth to birth.
