Dear BhakthAs:

Today we will study the final (Tenth) Paasuram

of Thirumangai Mannan on Lord DhaivanAyakan of

ThiruvahIndhrapuram ( Periya Thirumozhi: 3.1.10):

moovarAhiya oruvanai moovulahu uNDu umizhnthaLanthAnai

dEvar dhAnavar senRu senRu iRainjit-taNN Thiruvayeendhrapuratthu

mEvu sOthiyai vEl Valavan Kali kanRi viritthuraittha

paavu taNN Tamizh patthivai paadida paavangaL payilAvE

General observations

**********************

This is the last Paasuram on Thiruvaheendhrapuratthu

EmperumAn , SrI Deva Naayakan . He has extolled His

avathArams such as VarAha Moorthy, VaDa Pathra Saayee,

Narasimhan , Vaamanan , Raamachandran and KrishNan

in addition to describing the uncanny beauty of

this dhivya desam . In this final Phala sruthi

Paasuram , Kaliyan points out that Lord Dhaiva Naayakan

of Thiruvaheendhrapuram is Jagath KaaraNa Para Brahmam.

He assures us that the recital of his ten paasurams on

Lord Dhaiva Naayakan will chase away all of our sins.

First Line of the Sixth Paasuram

******************************

"MoovarAhiya Oruvanai moovulahu uNDu umizhnthu aLanthAnai"

Kaliyan states here that the Lord of this dhivya desam is

Thrimoorthy savaroopi (Brahma VishNu Rudra Roopi). The moola

BhEram of the Lord at this dhivya desam has the lakshNams

of Brahma-VishNu-RudrALs .The matted hair , the padhma chihnam

on the right hand and the disc as well as conch provide

proof that He is "MoovarAhiya Oruvan". From the near by

sthalam of Paataleepuram , Rudran performed Tapas

reciting the DevanAtha Manthram ( praNavam namO DevanAthAya)

and was blessed by the Lord at Thiruvaheendhrapuram.

BrahmA performed Tapas here and also recieved the blessings

of the Lord at this dhivya desam . As the antharyAmi of

Brahma and Rudran , our Lord performs Srushti and

SamhAram. He performs sthithi (protection) as VishNu

roopi. Hence , He is the One, who performs all the three

acts of Srushti, Sthithi and SamhAram. Vedam points

out as lakshaNam for Para Brahmam all these three

acts. He takes on all the avathArams for protecting

the world and its beings. For instance He swallows

all the three worlds during MahA PraLayam for their

safety and keeps them in a small portion of His

stomach as He floats on top of the PraLayam waters

using a Pupil leaf as His bed (Vada Pathra Saayee).

Afterwards , He releases those jeevans and the world .

During the avathAram as Vaamana-Thrivikraman ,

He measures all the three worlds with His gigantic

strides . Kaliyan alludes to all these glorious incidents

associated with His avathArams as " Moovulahu uNDu

umizhnthu aLanthAn ".

Second line of the Paasuram

****************************

" Devar dhAnavar senRu senRu iRaynchi-taNN

Thiruvayeendhrapuratthu (mEvu sOthiyai)"

Here at the dhivya desam of Thiru Ayindhai

known for its cool groves and ponds (taNN

Thiruvayeendhrapuram), Kaliyan points out

that the dEvAs and asurAs (dEvar dhAnavar)

arrive separately to seek the Lord's anugraham

(dEvar dhAnavar senRu senRu irainchi). He blesses

every one , who seeks His protection and hence

is known as Dhaiva Naayakan .He is the illustrious

Jyothi of Thirvaheendhrapuram ( Thiruvayeendhrapuratthu

mEvu sothi).

Third & Fourth Lines of the Paasuram

*************************************

(Thiruvayeendhirapuratthu) mEvu sOthiyai

vEl valavan Kali KanRi viritthuraittha ,

paavu taNN Tamizh patthu ivai paada

paavangaL payilAvE"

Here Kaliyan states that it was he , the One

who has the mastery over the spear in his hand (vEl valavan)

and who has won over the dhOshams of Kali purushan (Kali KanRi)

described at length (viritthuraittha) the glories of

the illustrious jyothi of Thiru Ayindhai. Kaliyan

(Thirumangai AzhwAr) points out further that he

composed these ten paasurams on the Lord of

Thiruvaheendhrapuram in the beautiful language of

Tamil in a big poetic meter ( Paavu taNN Tamizh

ivai patthu). Kaliyan points out the importance of

these ten paasurams on Lord DhiavanAyakan as having

the power to chase away all past sins form the reciter.

The mere recitation of these paasurams with devotion

will also prevent future sins from sticking to the singer

( ivai patthu paadida paavangaL payilA) as well.
