Significance of the number 7

Respected Vaishnavas,

I have always wondered, what is

the significance of the number 7?? If one reads the

4000, he/she can observe the number 7 being repeated a

lot for enumerative purposes. For eg., in

Thiruppallandu, we have Sri Bhattar going,

 

"Endhai thandhai thandhai thandhai tham moothappan

EZH padigAl thodangi..."

 

or Banar goes, "aNDaraNDa bagiraNDathu oru mAnilam

EZHU mAl varai..." in amalanAdipiran.

 

And many more. Can the learned in the fora answer this

query thats arising from my ignorant mind??
