Namaste to all Beloved on this list!!! Please allow my apologies for making my

first post [re: guru] without first introducing myself. This was graciously

pointed

out by my Guru who is also on this list. My name is Jon Evans. I am a house

painter in the greater Boston area. I am 34 years old. My interest in Advaita

began at 17

upon meeting my first Guru, Frederick Von Mierers. He encouraged me to read the

complete works of Vivekananda, Sri Ramakrishna, and Sri Aurobindu and the

Mother.[she

was amazing!!]. In 1988 I was shown a copy of Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj's I Am

That. I immediately recognized this as Truth but unfortunately had to wait 9

years to

meet my current Guru. First, Wayne Liquorman [who is in the Nisargadatta,

Balsekar lineage] and second, Greg Goode who is a source of immeasurable Truth

and plain

Beauty. I feel bliss to join such a wonderful forum who's interest is in

celebrating Brahman, the Life of our lives. Blessed Be!!! Jon

Namaste

As a new member of the list, I would like to introduce myself. I am

Russian, currently in an american university conducting research on

cancer related topics. I am 27, my interest started at 17 then I read

translation of "Bhagavat Gita as it is", but did not get much of it

(translation itself was not the last obstacle) and a wonderful

translation of The Adventure of Consciousness by Satprem about Sri

Aurobindo, and I could not find much more. I got hold on the literature

again some years ago, and read Shankara's Crest-Jewel, bits and pieces

of Sri Aurobindo, Sri Ramakrishna, some Buddist masters, and number of

comments and translations on Bhagavat Gita, and made some attempts on Vedas.

My practices are home made, and studies never were systematic. I never had a

formal guidance and looking for one. I am here to learn from others' wisdom and

experience. I apologise and asking for patience from the list members

if my questions are naive and stupid.

Let me say a word or two in greeting Sri Jon Evans to the list. Having

known him for a little under a year, I can say that he has a

lightning-sharp and fast intellect, which has sped the way in his ever

increasing discrimination between the Real and unreal. He also has a

bright, burning intensity to love and know the Truth, something commented

upon by all who meet him.

Welcome, Jon!!
