Guest guest
greetings again. i'm overwhelmed by the introductions of many reverend gurus to the advaitin list. i feel privileged to read their writings and want to apologize for making comments. i remember reading j krishnamurti's << think on these things >>, and he discusses freedom and dependence. maybe his writing there is helpful when viewing his anti-traditionalist stance and his view of effort. he reminds the reader that "to be free we have to revolt against all inward forms of dependence, and we cannot revolt unless we understand why we are dependent." he goes on to warn that reactionary forms of independence, which rebel against perceived outward limitations, are themselves evidence of dependence. "to be free," he says "is not merely to do what you like, or to break away from outward circumstances which bind you, but to understand the problem of dependence." please, i have no authority to hold an opinion on j krishnamurti's writing and its place in the advaitin vedanta, but it seems very compatible with the gradual disintegration of that which is not self. it looks like a reduction to the question of self. maxwell.
