Does advaita lead to confusion and pluralism ? How many sites will advaitins need to discuss about their search for Truth ? One site per advaitin perhaps ? Sorry if this soundd ironic, the intention is not to offend anyone Namaste Guy
Guest guest
Namaste Guy!!! When I read this post, my immediate reaction was "so true!" But then this came. The fact that we create newer and newer groups and places to "go seek" is indicative of "not getting it here" but in fact we can't help it, because in fact we have absolutely no volition "to" help it. Or is not everything already complete and perfect?? Still though, we go on and on playing in the Lila until consciosness deems it otherwise. I think that discussing scriptures is pleasant and Celebratory but a reminder of our complete and utter lack of any volition whatsoever is a wonderful reminder of what is actually going on here and now. Welcome aboard!! Guest guest
The reason for the new site about advaita was that I didn't see much on the internet offering content following a fairly traditional exposition and presented for Westerners.. I was fortunate to be exposed to traditional teaching and have grown to have a greater and greater value for it. Just recently, a dear friend here in California began his spiritual search. I found that there was no nearby center offering the teaching, as I heard it, near us. I remember that painful yearning I once felt and realized that, for those who are feeling that pang, something should be out there. I would welcome many beautiful advaita sites which might illumine visitors as well as presenting calendars of events and other practical information, also useful. I think those who studied with me have not yet thought of creating web pages ! Guest guest
Namaskar: My reference here is about a new Homepage with lots of useful information on Advaita. There are no more new discussion lists on Advaita! You have raised an interesting question on the linkage between advaita-confusion-pluralism. The question. why should we have two discussion lists on Advaita Vedanat does need explanation. List 1: Advaita-L (advaita-l) (about 100 members) List 2: advaitin (advaitin )(about 60 members) (between 20 to 30 are members of both these lists) The new list advaitin became necessary to accomodate more free expression of ideas and viewpoints within the general framework of non-duality. The articles in the archives of Advaita and advaitin can clearly demonstrate the need for the two lists. The appearance of two lists is also due to the influence of Maya! But if it was "unconscious" perhaps is it even worse, I don't know. I agree with some of your points, disagree with some others, but don't think necessary to argument on the matter at the risk of making my case even worse. namaste !
