Guest guest
For those who may not be aware, there is lot of work is being done by the Indian archaeologists about the Saraswati River Civilization - Saraswati river has been described in Vedaas and civilization existed along its banks. Following its description archaeological work is being done. There is an increasing evidence that Aryans were not nomadic people as the western historians have formulated. Those who are interested to know more about the origin of the Indian civilization there are interesting web links. Here is a recent post by Shree Kalyanaraman in Sanskrit Digest. The discussion was related whether Mahabharata was a story or history. I am taking the liberty to post it here for the benefit of others who may be interested. Hari Om! Sadananda (copy of the post from Sanskrit Digest) One good example of the great epic being a source of ancient Indian history is this: In S'alya parva, there is a detailed description of a pilgrimage undertaken by Balarama from Dwaraka to Mathura, along the Sarasvati River. Now the river has been found, together with nearly 1200 archaeological sites. The course of the river matches the description in the epic. Marine archaeology in Dwaraka has also indicated how Dwaraka got submerged. These are explained further at http://sarasvati.simplenet.com To my knowledge, there is not translation of the epic available on the web. There is a complete text (in roman script) available). Check out the download sites: ftp://ccftp.kyoto-su.ac.jp/pub/doc/sanskrit/ ftp://bombay.oriental.cam.ac.uk/pub/john/text/ The following site provides stores from the epic: http://www.investindia.com/newsite/religion/mahabhar.htm Best wishes; please let me know if any further info. is needed.
