Guest guest
> >"Thomas" <arcanta > >Ignorance may be bliss, but bliss is not necessarily ignorance! > >Namaste, >Thomas True. Ignorence that we are concerned is not objective ignorence. Ignorence of chemistry or ignorence of law of the land cannot be bliss. In that case it can be a calamity. If I take a tablet not know it is pot cyanide, I may reach different bliss state! And ignorence is not an excuse for not obeying the law of the land. Ignorence that we are concerned about is the non-apprehension of oneself. Is that bliss - no way either. Then what part of ignorence is bliss. Actually the absence of duality is bliss. In deep sleep there is an absence of duality - there is nothing other than me. But along with the absece of duality, there is non-apprehension too. I donot apprehend not only anything else (no internal differnetiation or external relations - sajaati, vijaati or swagata bhedaa-s), but I donot apprehend myself too. There is no self-knowledge either. Here again we arribute the bliss assoicated with the absence of duality to absence of knowledge. Absece of duality may take my mind away, but once the mind comes back the original ignorence still remains. Hence we get from deep sleep with all the same problems that we left before. But if there is self-knowledge, mind may have the same problems, we understand that we do not have any problems, since problems belong to upaadhii-s and not to us. That establishes also a fact that just by ashTaanga yoga, pranaayaama- pratyaahaara etc one cannot attain the bliss absolute. The mind can be closed in the process by discarding all thinking - but that doesnot guarentee self-knowledge - ONly self-inquiry gives self-knowledge. Hari Om!
