Guest guest
Greetings Sri Rajalingam: First welcome to the Advaitin List and good to see your question. Please write a paragraph about yourself to the list members. Thanks for your cooperation. I suggest you to the book by Satguru Sivaya Subramuniaswami, "Dancing with Siva" and it contains everything that you need to know about Siva workship. This book available through Amazon.com in the internet and also at other book stores. In page 49, the book states: "As pure consciousness, Siva is the manifest primal substance, pure love, and light flowing through all form, existing everywhere in time and space as infinite intelligence and power. As Primal Soul, Siva is the five-fold manifestation: Brahma, the creator; Vishnu, the preserver; Rudra, the destroyer; Maheswara, the veiling Lord, and Sadasiva, the revealer. " I come from Madurai, India and the Siva in the Madurai Temple is called Sadasivam. The three aspects of Siva - Nataraja, Rudra and Dhashinamurthy are quite important and contain great philosophical significance. I am sure that there are other explanations in addition to what I have stated. Hari Om! Guest guest
Hari Om! You must have heard the poem on sadAshiva: "brahmAMDa vyApta dEhA bhasita hima rucA bhAsamAnA bujaMgaiH kaMThEkAlAH kapardaaH kalita *SaSikaLA* scaMDa kOdaMDa hastAH..." Really, you want to have a look at sadAShiva? here is how you can see him : (I am really trying to be HONEST! feel free to discard this claim if you wish): ON A NEW MOON DAY: Go out of town, far...far...far from all the maddening crowd, far from the cities, the electricity lights, far from places where the sky is covered with dust. Just find a very quite place if possible on a mountain peek, or a small deserted rock island in the ocean (like kanyAkumari vivekananda memorial). Sit quite and relax. Fix your vision on the crescent. The crescent is said to be sadAShiva's ornament( kalita SaSikaLA). Now, you can see the ornament. So, it should be easy for you to find his mated locks, and also his absolutely beautiful and smiling face... you can see the aura of Lord Shiva. Imagine his "brahmAnDa vyApta dEha" (since you can see his face, you could imagine his body!) Have a look at him, meditate on him.
