Shree Ram Chandran has provided some discussions on the particular slokas, I am not sure whether in this list or some other list. May be he will be obliged to provide the discussion again. I would welcome your thoughts on those slokaas. Hari Om! Sadananda _____________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. Guest guest
Namaste to all list members, Since this is my first posting I think , I need, first to introduce my self to all the learned members. I am 48 years Brahmin, born and settled here at New Delhi. I am son of a priest in a temple here. Professionally, I am a Lawyer practicing since 1975 at Delhi High Court. I have deep interest in the Advaita Vedanta and I must state that I am greatly influenced by the works of Swami Vivekananda. I am also deeply concerned with many ills of the society and believe that all the ills can only be removed by the true understanding of our Vedic principles. Rama Chandran in his posting "What is Ego" Wrote >The true human nature calls for every human being >to do their duties spontaneously with a steady mind without looking for >rewards. Arjuna ask Lord Krishna " What is the Description of "Sthitprajna' man with Steady Wisdom? How he sits? How he walks? How he speaks? etc.( Bhagavad Geeta: Chapter II, Verse 54) Lord Krishna reply is contained in Verse 55 to 72 of this chapter. These few verses contain an excellent description about the man of Steady Wisdom. If all the members agree we may discuss these verses. I believe these few verses are to be read and understood again and again to have a true understanding of the same. I would like to be benefited by the experience and understanding of the Learned members on the list.( I must confess that my exposure to the discussions on the list is very limited, since only in the month of February this year I had an internet connection at my residence) M.M.SUDAN

I second Shri Sadananda's suggestion that may be Shri Ram Chandran re-post the sthitaprajna-lakshaNa from bhagavadgItA which he posted sometime ago. Viveka ChuDAmaNi (VC) verses 425-444 and Atmabodh verses 49-52 also describe the jivanmuktasya-lakshaNa. VC verses 543 -545 further describe how a jeevanmukta behaves. My favrite of the lot is VC 543. It goes like this: Nirdhano'api sadA tushhTo'apy asahAyo mahAbalah nitya-tr^pto'apy abhunjAno'apy asamah samadarshanah Without riches, yet always content; without help, but yet with full of power; without enjoyment, but yet ever-content; unlike any other, but yet seeing equality everywhere.
