Guest guest
Dear Ram: Thank you for the hymn. I know the group is discussing the Gita at this time....however, I am currently reading Adhyatma Ramayana by Swami Tapasyananda and am enthralled by this teaching. I have studied many texts over the years but come from a system that was very Siva orientated. As I read this book I realize that I know very little about the history of Rama and would like to know more. Your hymn mentions Rama and it occurred to me that perhaps someone on this list can steer me towards some sources for delving a bit more deeply into Rama. Thank you. Namaste, Linda

Line by Line Translation: Speak only of him as godlike the man who feels another's pain Who shares another's sorrow and pride does disdain Who regards himself lowliest of the low Speaks not a word of evil against any one Blessed is the mother who gave birth to such a son Who looks upon everyone as his equal, lust he has renounced Who honors women like he honors his mother Whose tongue knows not the taste of falsehood Nor covets another's worldly goods Who longs not for worldly wealth (or fame) For he treads the path of renunciation Ever on his lips is Rama's holy name All places of pilgrimage are within him He has conquered greed, And he is free of deceit, lust and anger Through him Narsinh has godly vision And his generation to come will attain salvation
